RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum!

Intel HD 3000
I was wondering if anyone with a similar video card were able to run this game because I have been seeing that others on the forums seem to have an issue with the game running.

This game doesn't like integrated graphics in general when it was first released. If yours is integrated ( even new as compared to when this game was released ) It's always a chance you take.

taken from README file on hard drive

RollerCoaster Tycoon® 3 Platium must be played on a video card that is DirectX 9.0c compatible. We strongly recommend you also install the latest drivers for your video card. Contact your card manufacturer for the latest documentation and drivers. We strongly recommend you play this game on a computer equipped with a video card that has hardware T & L acceleration or hardware Pixel and Vertex shader support. Any ATI Radeon card with 64MB qualifies, as does any 64MB GeForce 2 or higher EXCEPT GeForce 2 GTS, any GeForce 2 MX, and any GeForce 4 MX. All Intel Extreme, or any other Intel integrated video card, chipsets are not supported. Systems with GeForce 2 GTS/MX, GeForce 4 MX, or the Intel Extreme chipset family may exhibit performance degradation or graphical irregularities and are not recommended.

INTEL EXTREME VIDEO CHIPSETS - Many computers have the video chipset on the motherboard, negating the need for a video card. Some of these have the Intel Extreme video chipset. Be aware that the Extreme does not have hardware T&L and in some cases you may experience performance degradation while playing. To remedy this, start RCT3, open the game options control panel, and then select the video options page. Here you will notice several sliders that adjust the various video settings supported by the game. In some rare instances, the game's auto-configuration feature may not correctly identify your video hardware and these sliders may not be at the optimal settings for your computer. Adjust the sliders to the left to reduce the workload required by each of these settings and set the game to run in the 800 x 600 resolution setting. Also be advised that the Extreme video chipset shares your system memory to be used for video memory. You may achieve better performance by adding more system memory. For more information on configuring a computer equipped with this family of chipsets, visit the Intel website at the following address:

I have intel HD 3000 and the game runs just fine with me. Never had any issues with it.

Intel HD 3000
i3 2350M processor
4GB RAM

I have the GOG version rather than the steam version. But it should not make a difference.

Yeah I was thinking because the Intel HD 3000 isn't in that list of video cards.

Well as I said. Thats my setup and I do it fine, do the first person views and everything.

Found a demo on gamespot so I'll test to see if I can run it

Yeah the demo works perfect so I guess the issue is with older Intel cards.

Haven't got the steam version yet but have this on disc and worked absolutely fine on my i5 hd 3000. Thinking of getting the steam version as discs are a bit of a pain.

It's working fine for me on an Intel HD 4000 card

This game came out in 2004 and is compatible with Windows 98. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

People slate the HD3000, so last week out of curiosity I pulled my graphics card out and used the Intels built in gpu, I was pleasently surprised. I then set the gpu clock to 1800mhz and gave the gpu access to 512M of memory, this took the card up to around 8,000 points on 3dMark06, around the same performance as an 8600gt...plays most moden games with low/medium settings, so it should breeze through these older titles.
HD4000 is around double the performance.
