Game performance issues: non-playable.
Alright, I just bought the game and noticed the entire thing is a huge lag fest. The Main screen and the actual game just lags the crap out and makes the game painful to play.

~~Specs~~
CPU: A4 4300M
GPU: AMD 7240G 512MB OF RAM
RAM: DDR3 8GB 1333mhz
Hard Drive: 7200 RPM.

The computer runs every game I throw at it at high to the highest settings, but this game just lags out even at the lowest settings... any ideas?

EDIT: I noticed today this happens when the mouse is moved, the system will lag until the mouse movent stops and then resumes fine, this applies in both high and low quality settings.
The same issue people are reporting as well on any Windows x64 systems.

try a different mouse or update mouse drivers or check mouse settings.i would first go into the options and adjust my video settings down to the lowest possible followed by a very low resolution. if this solves the problem then go back into the options and raise them up one-by-one.

i have windows 7 64 bit with nvidia GTX 650 1 gb and everything is fine. ran good on my nvidia 8800 ultra 768mb card too. CPU: AMD 6000+ 4 gb of Mushkin memory.

All Drivers are up to date, and I just freshly updated my APU drivers, no difference at all.
Exact same problem, nearly the same specs you have. Whole game lags, uses a lot of CPU peacks, all resolutions tested and settings.

Is this a laptop issue? CPU: A4 4300M the M at the end is for mobile i think... if so you probably are using integrated graphics because your graphics are part of the CPU chip itself....saves money for the manufacturer. you may want to plug a mouse into your laptop. Also there may be options in your BIOS to make changes to your onboard graphics chip. or you may want to disable your touchpad via the control panel in windows and plug a mouse into your laptop and install drivers.just a suggestion

That cannot be the issue considering I run more graphic intensive games and get 60+ FPS.

But I do thank you for taking time to give me some ideas :)

you may want to peruse the readme file on the hard drive about integrated graphics i know yours is NOT intel but this game seems to dislike integrated graphics.

I'll take a look at that, ill totally not deny what you are saying because integrated graphics are a joke... but my old computer with a NVIDIA 9400m ran this game like a champ...

Fixed it by installing 13.4 ATI drivers, works smoothly now !

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here as well..........

Just so some of you guys are aware. I've had this game ever since it was released 10 yrs or so ago, the problem isn't hardware or your drivers, some might help a little bit granted, but this issue has been happening ever since it was first released. The problem is with the actual game code/engine itself, once you reach a certain point, usually around the 2k population count in your parks, the game starts to dramaticly decrease in performance no matter what you do.

The bloom is absolutely rediculous in the game as well, might help to turn it off for some peeps, also do NOT create massively insane pools either, that kills the perofrmance dramaticly as well. There is no fix for the stuttering, some things help, but when you build massive parks guys you just have to bare with it for the most part and limit yourselfs a bit. Its about the only thing thats wrong with the game.

You just have to be aware that the game is very old, and has always struggled with performance, and because its such an oldie, there is no support for it, Atari actually didn't sell the franchise when they were autioning all their products strangely enough. I dont know if there is a community fix somewhere to help performance issues, like enabling it to use multi-cores, or more ram.

I remember playing it on my old dual-core Laptop with Windows Vista a few years ago without any problems.
However, the game seems to dislike modern hardware and especially my HD 7970 Ghz edition.

I always had issues and the wife did with her machine as well, it was all over the official forums, it was something to do with the actual game code, it just wasn't very well optimized at all...
Put 13.4 catalyst drivers and eveything is fixed ffs

But then I'll have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance with newer games like Borderlands 2 and Tomb Raider.

I too can confirm that I experience this mouse lag issue on RCT3 running an AMD ATI Radeon 5850 on driver version 13.12. Trying to roll back the driver lead me to a bluescreen. Simply using System restore back to my previous driver of yesterday, coincidentally 13.4, and the bug is gone. This is definitely a bug with AMD drivers.
