it brings up a message saying RCT3 has stopped working, I have tried uninstalling the game and re-installing it but still get the same message. Any ideas? Thanks.

what kind of video do you have? if it's an installed card then try going into that card's option and setting the video options for that specific game to lower levels.

example: i have a Geforce gtx 650. in my nvidia control panel i can change my optins for a specific game by adding it's .EXE file and choosing the options for that game. This games .EXE file is located in : c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\rct3 gold\RCT3plus.exe..................so inside nvidia i would navigate to this .EXE file and add it to the nvidia control panel and then downgrade it there. This may help or may not.

There is alo a file called RCT3.DGF and if you open it with NOTEPAD it has alot of video options in it. you could try and delete it and then go back to Steam and verify your cache integrity and the file will be replaced.....i have done this and my file was replaced. but i have no problems like yourself. this file is also located in the above mentioned directory.

also there is a file called options and when you open it there is a line called " Firsttime 1 " yo could try and change that 1 to a zero and save overtop of that file and restart the game.

also in this directory is your main .EXE file called (above) RCT3plus.exe.......right click on it and choose properties and run it in WindowsXp service pack 3 mode and restart the game..............................hope i have helped good luck and let me know plz.

Running the exe in Windows 7 combatibility mode resolved this issue for me.

I did the same thing and set my setting to "high performance". I was able to fix the game after several frustrating minutes.

First, find where you stored your Steam File, then go to steam\steamapps\common\rct3 gold. Double click testapp.exe . For me, doing this opened up RCT3 and I was able to change the high performance option back to an acceptable setting. The program should run normally after that.

This worked for me, mainly by trial and error. Hoped it helped.
