RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum!

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum!

Constant Crashing On Windows 7, Game is pretty much unplayable.
So basically I recently bought the steam version of game and I was expecting it to work properly, but I was wrong. In the first few games I played it the game would crash to desktop and give me the whole "Application has stopped working" message and it quits to the desktop after about half an hour into a scenario. But for some reason it started crashing even more. Like I started a game, put a thrill ride in, tried to put in another one and it crashed. Then I started the game up again, tried to start a sandbox game, and the game crashed again. I have tried to stop it by running it in XP compatibility mode, and that didn't change a thing. I really don't know exactly why the game keeps crashing for no reason, but it usually happens when I try to do something either in game or in a menu, like selecting a sandbox game or trying to click on a ride. This has basically made the game unplayable for me and I really want to get it working. One thing I do know is that apparently some ASUS soundcards cause errors, and I have a Xonar DG 5.1 with the latest drivers I can find. But I've seen some people who claimed it didn't change anything by disabling it. I haven't tried it yet, but I have no idea if thats whats causing the problem. Please let me know if you know how to fix this problem, thanks.

Computer Specs:

Intel 3570k 3.4ghz Quad Core CPU
Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 2GB GPU
8GB 1600MZ DDR3
ASUS Xonar DG 5.1 Soundcard
Windows 7 Professional OS

Have you verified the game's cache files yet to see if your missing files?

Yeah, I just tried that. I verified the cache and it claimed 3 files were missing and would be reclaimed. After that I started another game in sandbox, and my game did actually run for about half an hour and then it crashed when I clicked on one of my coasters. So it fixed the game termporaily. Then I verified the games cache a second time to make sure and it says the same thing as before, that 3 files were missing. So I have no idea why its doing that. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Is your My Documents folder on C:\ drive ?. Do you have multiple drives by chance? Maybe your anti-virus is picking up those 3 files and it thinks they are viruses .........you never know.

Yeah, the folder is on that drive. And no I only have a single hard drive with everything on. I'll check my antivirus now just in case.

Just tried that now, didn't work unfortunately as the game still crashed after about 20 minutes.

Is that C:\ drive close to being full?

Excerpt from Readme file for RCT3:

I - DISK CAPACITY AND SWAPFILE SPACE
------------------------------------

Regardless of where you install RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 you must have at least 700MB free space on the destination hard drive before installing the game. In addition, if the hard drive used by the Windows swap file is low on space, you may experience degradation in performance or random crashes; please make sure your hard drives have plenty of space for the swap file, your hard drives are free of fragmentation and that, if needed, you've used the Windows accessory, Disk Cleanup, to remove all temporary files. If Windows is installed to another drive other than C:, you must have 42MB free ON THAT DRIVE so that some temporary files may be stored there while the game is installed.

If you delete MY Pictures folder:

Because RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 was made for Windows XP and earlier versions, it is looking for a "My Pictures" folder to take photos that you input to be used in game-play and parks. Once Windows Vista was released, Microsoft changed the libraries, there is no more "My Pictures" folder. To fix this, just create a new folder named "My Pictures" under the "Documents" folder. Inside that "My Pictures" folder, create another folder labeled "RCT3", this should read photos you move into the "RCT3" folder to be visible in-game now.

I'm having the same problem with Win10. I haven't been able to play the game at all. Every time I launch it my screen goes black for a moment and then it crashes and pops up the debugger. Verified the game cache and was missing 1 file, but still can't play.

Try some of the things listed here, they might be able to help you.

If you have an ATI Radeon chipset or video card " some " people have reported that they had to Back date their video drivers to a specific version inorder to get it to run. You'll have to seach the threads for : ATI RADEON Catayst......i think. Or Black screen.

I'm having serious problems with the game. He is closing abruptly alone. No explanations. I can not play more than 10 minutes without it closes the window alone. Anyone know how to fix?

So I tried to play the game before, and before that I verified the game's cache using Steam. Turns out there were 3 files missing. So after they had been replaced I started the game, went into a sandbox scenario, clicked on the rollercoaster tab and the game crashed quicker than it ever has. So I verified the cache again and it said 3 files were missing, again. So it turns out every time the game crashes 3 files go missing. I still have no idea how to fix this as verifying the games files does almost nothing.

1 Long shot----------> Does your anti-virus catch them and delete them......try disabling it for the download.

2. Unistall game. Download a program called CCLEANER and instal it and run the Registry cleaner part of it (very good program to have). Re-install game with anti virus disabled and see what happens.

I'm running out of possibilities............:bomba:
