Yeah, I just tried that. I verified the cache and it claimed 3 files were missing and would be reclaimed. After that I started another game in sandbox, and my game did actually run for about half an hour and then it crashed when I clicked on one of my coasters. So it fixed the game termporaily. Then I verified the games cache a second time to make sure and it says the same thing as before, that 3 files were missing. So I have no idea why its doing that. Thanks for your suggestion though.
Just tried that now, didn't work unfortunately as the game still crashed after about 20 minutes.
Excerpt from Readme file for RCT3:
I - DISK CAPACITY AND SWAPFILE SPACE
------------------------------------
Regardless of where you install RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 you must have at least 700MB free space on the destination hard drive before installing the game. In addition, if the hard drive used by the Windows swap file is low on space, you may experience degradation in performance or random crashes; please make sure your hard drives have plenty of space for the swap file, your hard drives are free of fragmentation and that, if needed, you've used the Windows accessory, Disk Cleanup, to remove all temporary files. If Windows is installed to another drive other than C:, you must have 42MB free ON THAT DRIVE so that some temporary files may be stored there while the game is installed.
Because RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 was made for Windows XP and earlier versions, it is looking for a "My Pictures" folder to take photos that you input to be used in game-play and parks. Once Windows Vista was released, Microsoft changed the libraries, there is no more "My Pictures" folder. To fix this, just create a new folder named "My Pictures" under the "Documents" folder. Inside that "My Pictures" folder, create another folder labeled "RCT3", this should read photos you move into the "RCT3" folder to be visible in-game now.
I gtg for now, but I'll try the game again tomorrow after I've done all of this and defragmented my disk. Thanks in advance mate
Try some of the things listed here, they might be able to help you.
If you have an ATI Radeon chipset or video card " some " people have reported that they had to Back date their video drivers to a specific version inorder to get it to run. You'll have to seach the threads for : ATI RADEON Catayst......i think. Or Black screen.
1 Long shot----------> Does your anti-virus catch them and delete them......try disabling it for the download.
2. Unistall game. Download a program called CCLEANER and instal it and run the Registry cleaner part of it (very good program to have). Re-install game with anti virus disabled and see what happens.
I'm running out of possibilities............
