delete the automatically made desktop icon
go into the drive the game is installed in probably C:
go to steam/steamapps/common
click on the game folder
scroll down till you see "RCT3PLUS" it has a stuffed bear icon, copy that and past it to the desktop, boom problem solved...
its as simple as the automatically made desktop icon does not have the proper directory to launch the game properly. You can fix the directory or just do what i suggested which works and is the best way.
directX8 through 12 are all compatible... its when you have a game that needs dx7 or older where you have major issues and need to place and format a directx wrapper into the games critical files.... meaning you wana play a win 95 game from a disc on win10.... the steam versions of rct are recoded to work on win 8+ just fine.... this problem is an issue with the installation and nothing more
