Mods?
Has no one created a public mod yet? It's a shame because the modding community for Infinite Space was small but still existed.

It did but but nothing has shown up and the I think the devs are done with this one, still a game that remains on my drive and gets a fair amout of play.

Seems like this one wasn't successful and it's pretty much dead. Honestly it's not that surprising, this part doesn't have that much new content or changes besides the map compared to 2, while the genre as a whole really evolved through the years.

That's a shame, the Babylon Project for Weird Worlds was a lot of fun.

weird worlds 2 return to infinite space is my favorite game to mod, but 3 is very different.

I messed around with it, the only thing I found majorly different was ship building.

There is one unfinished, abandoned mod. But worth a look if you want a little more content:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/269990/discussions/1/451848854979436767/

It basically ports items from the old games, and adjusts the feel of combat significantly.
Ship combat movement speed is exaggerated, making it more important. (Big ships are slow enough that you can outflank them, powerful thrusters + short range weapons becomes a viable combo, fighters are much harder to hit so survive longer).

It's a decent upgrade so it's too bad it was discontinued.

I assume from your post that even though it is unfinished, it still works? I'm not really comfortable using mods, but you make what they did finish sound pretty good. \

Yes it's playable. The new item icons are slightly janky (squares instead of circles) but it plays fine.

I think it also randomizes the faction friendliness. So you can't count on a faction always welcoming you when you first meet them.

Are you aware if it's possible to change number of stars and amount of races in it?

No, wow.

If you are interested in making a mod, read the modmanual.txt (in the game folder) and try asking questions in the mod forum. (Unfortunately, the mod forum is pretty dead).

From the modmanual, I see that you can totally change the races and make special planets. I don't know whether you can increase the number spawned per game though.

Wow, that sounds very cool. I am tempted.

Hahah here's a difficulty mod I made today>

The combat is a bit easy once you get the hang of it so this makes it much more difficult. Place the file under steamapps>common>seaofstars (right click SeaofStars in your Steam library go to manage>browse local files)
And then unzip the file. You should be able to select the mod in the mods menu when starting the game
