VATSIM or IVAO
Hello! I'm new to the Flight Simulation world and I've just started with X-Plane 11. After researching a bit I found that to fly online with other pilots and with player ATC you need to join either IVAO or VATSIM. My question is, which one is better for a begginer?

I understand that one should know how to operate the plane one's going to fly but even then I'll still need to learn phraseology and more things about aviation. So which will be better?

I also should mention that I do not have the latest AIRAC as I use the one that comes with X-Plane 11 by default (flying with the Zibo B737). Will that be a huge problem?

Both have excellent support for learning. You could try both, that way you can go online in the network with the better ATC coverage for the region where you wanna fly at the time you wanna fly.

Imho there's no reason to select one and never look again at the other network. Aviation rules and phraseology are the same.

Alright that sounds good and thanks for the reply.

But what about the out dated nav data? Will it matter for flying online? Of course it somewhat breaks realism but as I am just starting out, I wanna know if it'l be okay.

Oh, i forgot to mention the AIRAC, sorry. I would say, for the first steps you should be fine with outdated AIRAC too. But i recommend to use up to date charts for the airports you depart and arrive. Both networks provide them for download. You need at least SID/STAR, ground layout with the taxiways and approach charts with procedures and navaid frequencies.

That's fine, I'll take a look on getting the latest charts. My only fear is having SID/STAR that are different with those on the chart (like the name of the SID/STAR that's presented on the FMC doesn't match the one on the chart).

Thanks again for clarifying!
