X-Plane 11

X-Plane 11

may i barrow an level 100 nasa computer, Thank you!
I will keep this short, although I could write a small novel on the 45 hours of frustration I have gathered. X-plane 11 has the potential for a great flight simulator. The graphics are amazing and well optimized, the aircraft physics and mechanics are far beyond what I experienced in FSX, but overall the game has succombed to the microtransaction/payware DLC flare that ruins games for casual gamers like me (who don't have the cash for the numerous plugins which often come with a monthly fee) after having already payed 60$ for the game.

The ATC is almost an insult when you compare it to FSX (which is 10 years older). The only plugins/addons which sound like they would come close to making the ATC bearable... payware. The game comes with 9 default planes. It's very easy to download new ones, the first one I downloaded was great, until I couldn't get the FMC to work. Turns out for full features of the aircraft... pay up! I learned a lot about aircraft navigation, setting up my own flight plans etc. Turns out if you want the current Nav data (x-plane 11 is on the airac cycle from 2016)... that's right, payware. Yesterday I thought I'd take a break from all the time I spend trying to tweak the game into a form I can live with and fly my favorite route from norther Norway to Svalbard. When I arrived at the destination their were two airstrips floating in the water. Thought it was a bug, turns out arctic regions aren't implemented in x-plane 11 (apparently to reduce the game size). The only solution? That's right... payware.

In conclusion, X-plane 11 is just another symptom of the cancer that the modern gaming industry has become.
