No it's not though I do still use it from time to time. Virtually the only reason I have XP installed these days with MSFS being out there is because of my addons. Someday I will stop using XP (and have no plans to get 12).

Why not? It still works fine, flies well and offers practically everything I personally look for in a civilian flight sim. It also runs beautifully on my current rig, and I'm not planning to upgrade my hardware anytime soon (running on i7/7700 with GTX1070).
I might get X-Plane 12 once it is released, depending on how well it runs on my system. At least I'm going to give the demo a try. I have nothing against Microsoft's offering, but there's no point getting it before I upgrade my hardware.
I usually don't spend money on add-ons, so I can also easily change the platform if I feel like it. But for now, I'm happy with what i've got.
Yes, because I like the flight physics more than MSFS physics. I have Toliss, Flight Factor, IXEG, Inibuilds aircraft and 4 TB of Ortho scenery (all of Europe level 16, all USA level 12 for cruise flight).

I have MSFS with PMDG and Fenix but there are so many things I don't like (taxi behaviour) or missing that I came back to XP as my primary sim and I'm loving it!
Personally I prefer the general flight model in Xplane 11 and I still have a ton of planes for xplane after my many years flying in it so no point jumping fully to fs2020 until all my usual planes have been added to the sim.

Does the payware aircraft in msfs2020 still not match XP payware aircraft in terms of flight model? Someone said to me that it can never match given how the msfs2020 platform works.
@rice^ Well I have bought PMDG/Fenix 737/A320 and I don't like the physics of them. I am not a pilot but have flown often as a passenger and in the cokcpit on the jumpseat so I judge based on my experience. The physics feel flat, static and strange in MSFS. Yes MSFS is said to have a complex physics model but the outcome is poor. I mean there is a reason why I went back to XP. Because the MSFS flying feels so bad to me. The worst thing is the taxi behaviour, Asobo admitted this as well.

Personally, I don't think MSFS will catch up with XP in this regard. XP feels way superior regarding the physics.

I also find MSFS feels static, as if you don't need many micro adjustments to fly. This is with the payware kodiak 100 sws. Honestly XP11 default aircraft feel better.
XP11 default aircraft aren't that great if you ask me and for sure the Kodiak for MSFS is better than them if you ask me, it's one of the most praised addons for MSFS at the moment.

Take a look at what SimCoders and X-Aerodynamics offers for default aircraft and even some third-party aircraft. I have a number of addons from SimCoders and I really, really like what they've done with the stock 172. Paired up with FMOD Experience by SimAcoustics and using my PFC Cessna yoke hand-flying it for hours on end is so enjoyable.

I feel that A2A is truly going to shine in MSFS, love their addons in P3D. Their first addon for MSFS will be their Piper PA-24. I have no doubt they will bring their Cessna 172 at some point and I'm speculating that in addition to a steam gauge version they will include a glass cockpit version (G1000 NXi thanks to Working Title). I would have really no reason to the Airfoillabs Cessna 172 for XP (I have both of them for XP).

Again right now if I feel like flying a Cessna 172 with a glass cockpit I'll hop in X-Plane, if A2A was to drop a Cessna 172 with a glass cockpit tomorrow I most likely wouldn't be using XP anymore for it.

I do have a Cessna 152 from Just Flight and Carenado (use the Nhadrian mod with it) for XP. When Just Flight brings their Cessna 152 to MSFS I see little reason to use it in XP. It's possible when that eventually does happen I won't even be using XP at that point. I know Just Flight are working on their Tomahawk currently and then it will be their Archer, no idea what is after that.

If I feel like flying cross-country outside of California (I have Orbx TrueEarth HD for both the North and South) I will hop in MSFS most of the time and I will even use MSFS for flying inside of California. I've done it quite a lot actually, almost to the point that I'm flying more in MSFS than XP despite having Orbx TrueEarth. For others Ortho and simHaven scenery can only go so far (which I do have installed too).

MSFS even has a renowned XP third-party developer hopping over to MSFS and will be including their A310 at no charge to the stock sim in November and please correct me if I'm wrong but I think iniBuilds said they're done with XP (maybe that was someone else).

As someone who has been in the hobby for a very, very long time my interest in XP just isn't what it used to be and I'm not just someone who goofs around in flight sims. I personally feel that MSFS is where the hobby is headed for both the casual and serious simmer and I feel that XP12 will not be as popular as XP11 given MSFS is out there.

Im sticking to XP because im rather disappointing with the physics of MFS, MFS will never become my main sim, however, ill use it more as it improves. Im waiting for XP12 to come out, which will most likely be my new main sim
MSFS (via XBox Game Pass) just for the VFR flying and Fenix A320, otherwise I have too much invested in XP11 (aircraft payware addons), and for me XP11 still works very well. I like both sims for what they offer.
I will use both, but i always use multiple sims, including FSX and FS9. i use MSFS like SkyBee does, Gamepass. But my primary sim is XP11 and will be XP12 when released as long as my PC can handle it. I agree with Maki Nishikino that MSFS is the future for casual simmers. as for the vaunted "Serious Simmers", I assume that will also be the case, as long as the aircraft continue to be hi fidelity. If they don't then they probably wouldnt be serious.

I'm currently using MSFS no differently than XP and P3D. Honestly if I had to start all over again I wouldn't bother with XP and P3D and just go with MSFS. I'm really excited for A2A to bring their first product to MSFS. Again the only reason I'm really holding onto XP and P3D is because of my addons I've collected over so many years.

i haven't tried msfs and xp 11 ever to be honest. However, i was and am a prepar3d flier for years. To my opinion, since i just bought xp11 on steam couple days ago and when i tried xp11, well it is unique. The plane steering wheel, for example when we flare it was more smooth rather than stick, bolt as what i've tried in p3d. I even had experience a windshear just like a real plane which i have never experience this in p3d before. So yeah, i think Xplane is more realistic and also i was surprise to find xp11 is actually FPS friendly. So i'm gonna stick with xplane11 for sometime for now. It's the best for me now.
