X-plane 11 or 12?

I haven't tried either but like the idea of adopting the newer version... but the discussion threads all seem to say go with 11.

Anyone tried both and have some insights to share?

I have both of them though I really don't use XP 12 (I pretty much just fire it up to update it). I Have a number of addons for it too such as the Airfoillabs Cessna 172, SimCoders Cessna 172, Thranda Cessna 206, Flight Factor 757, VSKYLABS R44, Hotstart Challenger (Beta). Way, way more in XP 11 though. XP 12 is still pretty rough from the little time I've used it but at some point XP 12 will totally supersede XP 11. XP 11 is a lot more mature with a ton of addons available. I believe if you get XP 12 you get a copy of XP 11 and it's still very much worth installing.

Get X-plane 11 in the sale (it's a steal) and only if you like it, 12

One day there could also be X-Plane 13 and 14 so wanting a definite answer is not always the best strategy

I can personally recommend X-Plane 12 Beta but I'm cautious, because many people seem to not like it (yet)

I have both of 11 and 12. But for now you can stay with 11.
Because there's only small differences between them.

So wait a little longer until XP12 out from Early Access stage maybe (?)
I bought XP12 because there's Autumn Sale on Steam LOL 😂

XP12 Early Access version is more like XP11 with more visual cosmetics.

I fly both with Quest2. Since B14 (latest) XP12 has been better than XP11 and RC (release candinate) is comin in this week. I think if you buy XP12 you get XP11 too but I don't know how. Specially when you haven't XP11 and addnos go for XP12. It is on sale now (7 hours left) so hurry.

XPlane or MSFS is different question but between XP11 and XP12 winner is clear.

Why not just try the demo of both?

I only upgrade to 12, if i can use my addons from 11. They were expensive, there's no point for me to throw them in the bin.

I have both 11 and 12. Right now I do what Maki mentioned above. I start up XP12 to update it and do some flights in it but mainly stay with XP11 as it will be quite a while before the aircraft I like to fly in XP11 are updated for XP12.

I also have both and tbh just back charged steam for x-plane 12 as the last update R1 dropped my fps by up to 20 frames, Unplayable. I stick with x-plane 11 (even tho really bad FPS) I had big expectations from x-plane 12 but they def. did not deliver on them. seems like they worked years to bring people a stock A320 but its not even fully modelled and air plane a320 adds on blow their stock out of the water. after listening to real world airbus pilots i made the decision last night to fully convert from x-plane to MSFS (fenix and FBW a320 and a380 ariplane addons) The flight dynamics have improved over the years and match if not exceed x-plane at this point (speaking of air plane addons)

I run a 3080 Nvidia and with x-plane im just not happy and had enough, I get 5-20fps. Have over 200h on x-plane 11 alone. if airbus pilots are telling me that MSFS (Fenix and FBW) aircraft response is the same as the air planes then i see no reason to stay with x-plane any longer. visuals are 1000x better with MSFS and you can download all your maps so you don't have to while flying. Adjusting response curves in MSFS helps a lot with how airplane handles compared to real life (again coming from real pilots)

There is a lot of addons for x-plane that you can find online without paying, they work great. I never had an issue. msg me if you need help.

Yeah the last updates have big issues. I recommend to postpone the decision to early next year, X-Plane 12 was p.good at the start of the beta but right now it is apparently not at its best.
