Orbx Scenery downloads
I have been trying to download some scenery from Orbx but do not have enough space. The Steamapp and Flight 11 is on my "C" Drive (very little space) but my "D" drive has 316GB free. How do I get my Steam and Flight 11 on to my "D" drive? Any help would be appreciated. Keep it simple, please!

The best and easiest way would be if you uninstall steam and xplane and do a fresh install on your "d" drive.

thats completely wrong.
steam has a function to transfer a game to a different directory. create a new steam library in the D drive and transfer.

Since posting my problem I have had another look at my computer and find that 'Steam' seems to be all over the place!

I noticed that when I placed the cursor over the install to X-Plane Folder box in Orbx Central,, it gave the path C:\Programme Files\steamapps\common\X-Plane 11. When I hovered over the Library box, I got the path C:\User\Roger\Orbx Library – which I can’t find on Explorer.
I thought that X-Plane 11 was just running from my larger ‘D’ drive, so I have checked and found D>Programme Files>Steam Library> steamapps>common>X-Plane 11. I have also found on the ‘D’ drive list yet another mention of the X-Plane! This time it is D>steamapps>common>X-Plane 11
It does seem that it is a bit of a muddle and might have taken place when I changed my computer and someone ‘set it up’ for me!
It would be much appreciated if someone could help me get out of this muddle and advise on the best and safe way to have the X-Plane 11 running only on my ‘D’ drive.
Kind regards
Roger

In steam, click steam in the corner, open settings -> downloads -> Steam library folders and send us what's in the list.

Not sure how to send you the screen shot, but it only shows the 'C' drive download even though I can see it on the 'D' Drive in Explorer I have now managed to download the Orbx scenery file in a 'D' Obrx Library. It seems to work OK when using X-Flight 11.

It's a mess that costs you hard drive space. Are you willing to untagle it? Or it doesn't really matter for now?

Orbx libraries have nothing to do with Steam. They can be set up through Orbx Central and allow you to store large Orbx scenery files outside of your main X Plane directory, with symbolic links to your Custom Scenery folder. Provided you do everything through Orbx Central, the process is fairly user-friendly.

You also need to makes sure that ORBX Central stores its temp and backup files on the larger drive as well.

Check the options... all the paths can be changed.

I would like to untangle it but wonder if I would be savvy enough to do it? What would it entail? At the moment all is working OK (touch wood!) but space is being used up.

Are you comfortable with reinstalling X-Plane? If yes, then I would uninstall X-Plane thru steam, then manually delete all other remains in both C and D drive. That would be easiest in complexity, but it would mean you have to reconfigure and reinstall all of your mods/addons...

It is not wrong!

1. He wants to transfer the steam installation on "D" as well.

2. Those transfering options might work with standard games. But with flight sims and all the external programs they do brake more than they cure.

Nothing beats a clean and fresh installation.

Steam doesn't take up any space and the transfer works fine provided all your addons are in X-Plane 11 directory.

There seems to be two different views on which way to go! Perhaps if I could set out a detailed narrative on what I believe is the correct procedure, then you could check it for me prior to me taking any action?
