Librain rain effect plugin
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone is using this plug-in successfully?
I have tried to add it into my freeware Aerobask DR401. My Tollis A319 actually came with it installed, but for the life of me I can't get either of them to work.
I was wondering if anyone of you use it and if so can tell me what you did to install it?
The effects look great on you tube , just wish I could see it in my Sim!

I have it on some of my aircraft but the aircraft has to be programmed to use it. Will not work on just any aircraft.

i beleive you can get the main source and compile it for a different plane, if you know how, but the ones precompiled are for specific planes. its not a general plugin for all planes you can just use. i use it on the cessna. i also noted it doesnt work in an 'altered' cessna like the freeware sp bush kit that uses most the cessna files. make sure if you install that freeware plane you use the default 172 files before you install librain. i always keep a backup clean install of xp somewhere in case i need some files.

I figured my ToLiss A319 out. Dumb me forgot that the plane was recently updated and there was a setting for rain effects that had to be checked on!
As for the freeware Aerobask DR401; still working on it. I thought I followed the installation right, but guess not.

I should of backed my xplane up too before changing anything. I have two hard drives with steam libraries. Do you know if I could do another xplane install in the library that does not have xplane in it?

For the DR 401 (latest version), you also need to download the Aerobask SASL free plugin. From memory, you get this from the same DR401 page on the Org (click on the Download button).

Yes I did that and put it the planes plug ins folder. Still not working however.

So make sure you have the following sub-folders listed under your X-Plane 11/Aircraft/Robin DR401/plugins folder (note this is the specific aircraft plugins folder; not the main XP11 one):

librain.plugin
SASLFree
xlua

If so, then it should work - assuming you have the latest DR401 version, which is normally updated via the Skunkcrafts updater.

Everything seems to be the way you mentioned. I updated the plane before I dropped those folders into the planes plug ins. Not sure what the problem could be but thanks for the advice.

Just one further thought. Sometimes you need to set the weather to full-on stormy in order to see the rain on the windscreen, at least after first installing the librain plugin. No idea why.

So I messed and messed with the weather sliders and went from heavy to severe and that didn't work either. I guess I will send an email to Aerobask to see what might be happening. I dropped the librain plug in into my DDEN Challenger and it worked fine there as well as the Tollis.
Who knows.

mmmm... librain *is* the effect mod used on the zibo.. the 'ski' effect is what its called when you turn it on from the tablet effects tab.
when it says "Skiselkov rain effect" on the zibo...
https://github.com/skiselkov/librain

*edit* ok this guy is throwing wrong information out all over the place intentionally on the forum. ignore the guy.
on one thread he said you couldnt do multiplayer with xplane, and on another one he said fs2004 was better than xplane, etc.
he is being obtuse on purpose. (mig-23)
just report the dude.
