Good games like this for use with an xbox 360 controller?

I am new to this type of simulation so I am not to keen on buying a yoke or joystick yet... And I cant seem to figure out how to even set the controller for anything besides just steering... Any help would be awesome.

Just be wary that this is not a game. It's a fully-fledged flight simulator, which has some of the highest system requirements of any application (more than PUBG etc.). With that said, it is possible to fly using a basic controller, like the one you described. You can set the left thumbstick to the pitch and roll axes, and the right thumbstick to the yaw axis. This also acts as ground steering.

You can then assign buttons for other useful functions, such as throttle, flaps, speedbrakes, brakes etc.

What I put above is good enough to get going. Maybe you could assign the pause and landing gear functions too.

These will give you excellent control over basic aircraft, and you will be able to free up a hand too.
