ATC
Does anyone use Pilot2Atc ? I had a 10 day trial in May and as a new bewildered X11 pilot never really loaded it up. Having wasted my trial i was wondering what others thought of it.

I have pilot2atc and I wouldn't be without it now. It's the best atc option available for XP11 (IMO). It has a pretty comprehensive flight planning facility and is reasonably straightforward to use after the initial learning curve. The voice recognition software is not perfect but with time you get to know what you can safely say yourself and what to leave to the "sayit" facility (it can struggle to understand your readback of some SID and STAR names and transition names ). Sometimes does some wacky things (told to descend to 100 ft over New York) but such events are few and far between and Dave (Mr pilot2atc) is pretty quick on the case with any reported bugs (go check out the pilot2atc forum on Avsim). Second monitor is pretty much essential to start with (I used an old TV) but hardly has much impact on GPU or CPU. As I've got better with the FMC and other avionics in the sim, I just have pilot2atc on the main monitor for flight planning, then minimise it and have it running behind full screen display and alt tab if i need it back on screen. I then use joystick for "press to talk" and "say it". This is probably as close as you're going to get to a proper atc experience without involving other human beings. I suppose it boils down to what you're gonna use Xplane for. If you're doing airline stuff and you're into all the procedural stuff, it's probably worth it. If you're primarily using XP11 for VFR stuff, maybe $50 is not going to represent good value (124thatc is pretty good and it's free). Go read the manual and that will give you a good idea of what it can and can't do.

Thanks for the reply. I have purchased and installed the program but cannot get it to see xplane 11, I cannot even get it to acknowledge the call sign save within the programme, nothing shows in the main screen box. Any ideas?

I'm assuming you've tried pressing the connect button and nothing is happening? Have you installed XPUIPC in your plugins folder? This is the plugin that lets p2atc communicate with X plane. If XPUIPC is installed correctly it will appear in your in game plugins menu. Make sure it is enabled in plugin admin. If you can't see it in the plugin menu, it's not installed correctly. You can check that it has the right IP address by opening the config settings in the XPUIPC plugin folder and checking that it has your IP address as the "server address". You can edit it if necessary. To set a callsign, you must use the P2A setup tab in the "config" menu. The 2 may be related (I don't know) so it may not let you set a callsign until you have connected P2A to the sim. If you've already done all this then https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/713-pilot2atc-users-forum/ The topic may have been raised already for instance https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/488166-pilot2atc-will-not-connect-to-x-plane/ If not, Dave or another user are normally quick to reply.

Many thanks for the reply, I have now got the connection working. As soon as xplane is running i have 2 voices repeating the same ATIS info, 1 female and 1 male, I assume 1 is from xplane itself as the male voice is presumably from pilot2atc. I am just getting to grips with the programme and am fairly ok with flight planning, however i cannot seem to get the flightplan to show in the garmin 530. I generally fly prop planes at the moment as i am not familiar with the larger planes in xplane. Is it possible to get the flightplans into GPS? Thanks for any pointers you may have.

Garmin 530, you can, do you mean by importing a file? or inputting manuallyu after selecting departure via PROC button then once loaded or activated, FPL an manually input waypoints an such, Last line will be your destination airport, Then hit PROC again to select arrival or approach if the airport has any.

If you wanted to import a flightplan file:
https://skyvector.com/ Create your route
https://x-planetools.com/ To convert your skyvector route into a .fms file

There are vids on youtube on how to do this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxEJNDXx9AM

Tho i tried this once using GPS positions on skyvecctor as waypoints, When i loaded it up its like x-plane did not recognize the locations or something as the flight plan was all over the place locations being hundreds if not thousands of miles away.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. What I am trying to do is import a flight plan from pilot2atc into the 530 but I cannot work out how to do it. The plan shows in the Fmc of an airliner but the prop planes don't have an Fmc

Sorry i am not familiar with P2A, I'd rather be on vatsim talkin to a real person than something that is automated.
No GA dont. R u familiar with the garmen?
Is it a file u r trying to load from Output/FMSplans folder?
If it is a flight plan gnerated from various websites that is converted to an .fms file an is in Output/FMSplans folder, Try: (on garmin CDU) FPL then fine rightone or 2 knotches, The smaller rotating button, the one that lets you scroll through the alphabet. This is where .fms plans r an can be loaded from there.

Found the files on the Garmin just as you said. This is the perfect solution for me, thanks very much.
