Pedals: VKB Mk.IV vs MFG Crosswind vs ??????????
What pedals do you prefer? I need a much nicer set as I grow tired of the ones I have now, although I am slowly trying to get used to using it.... the difficulties with the ergonomics of using it are too great to overcome by simply getting used to it, as opposed to changing around how your controls are setup etc. I want to get used to using decent rudder pedals though, not these difficult pieces of ♥♥♥♥ that are that much harder to use.

I am looking for a good set of rudder pedals. I have watched videos of a bunch of nicer sets and looked at how they actuate and stuff but don't really have a preference, as they all look much nicer than the pieces of ♥♥♥♥ I have now. The Thrustmaster TPOSRP (Total piece of ♥♥♥♥ rudder pedals). They are a wobbly, awkward mess, even using them in the best possible way I can with my chair and stuff. Ridiculous though, you can't tell when they are centered and I feel I need to set a massive deadzone of around 9 or 10.

Also, I am disappointed by the T.16000 kind of, I also picked up this recently. I should have gone with a more costly set that's nicer like the Warthog that actually has way more buttons on the actual stick, not misleading a just a bunch of large buttons on the base of it.

I would like everyones input on what you think, or what your experiences are on (even if you haven't used more than one type), of the nicer rudder pedals. I already know the ones I have are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, if you don't think so because all you do is fly airliners in FSX or fly in some space games or something, and they work for you, that's fine. You probably have a different chair/desk setup and everything then, or some other factors at work then. Either way, I would not recommend these cheap Thrustmaster pedals, total waste of time. Just go with a nicer set, anything is better than this junk.

The VKB looks like the most promising... but the problem there of course is no toe brake axis. I'm aware of why also in general, rest assured one of my favorite planes in DCS is the L-39 which has the eastern setup of no toe brakes and just a button on the joystick. In these, you have to do full rudder and varying amounts of stick wheel brake pressing to taxi around. And the VKB pedals were invented in Russia or somewhere like that I guess, but regardless you'd think they would include that. It's too bad because otherwise those would be the ones for sure and I wouldn't be here asking about pedals.

If you own the VKB pedals, do you mind not having the other axis? I know it can be mapped (maybe?) "virtually", or by assigning modifiers? How easy would that even be, can that just be done in the game settings?

Otherwise, owners of MFG Crosswind, do you like those? If you own both, or own other types aside from the cheap TM ones I described I already have, do you like it the most? It appears the VKB would work better for my personal setup. It appears the VKB look more comfortable to use with a typical desk/office chair setup, unlike others which, even though they look more like real pedals, it works less good for typical gaming setups. (Maybe not like some crazy setups with the chair and all sorts of crap everything, no lol, I just want really nice controls for the bare minimum, maximum ability to fly, not the other comforts which I can readily do without). So in that case, next is getting TrackIR.

It will be interesting to read the replies you get to your post. I had the Saitek X-52 controller and rudder pedals and was very satisfied with them until my X-52 started giving me issues after 12 years of use. Reading reviews on the newer version of the X-52 I hesitated on purchasing one so instead purchased the Thrustmaster T1600M Flight Pack. It's OK but nothing to write home about. I agree you can't feel when the rudder pedals are centered because the centering spring isn't as strong as it should be. The T1600M works well enough for me and while it doesn't have as many hat switches on it as the X-52 did the Throttle does and even more so I've programmed the hat/castle switches for view, trim, etc which is working out very well.

People talk about the Warthog system which I've looked at but just don't like the button/switch arrangement on that controller. And when you get right down to it there aren't many controllers out there that have good reviews. So as I said it will be interesting to read the responses to your post. Maybe I can learn something new and make a move up from what I am using now. Just don't want to be paying a fortune for pedals and controllers that are fancier than what I have but don't really work any better.

Warthog with the Saitek Pro Combat pedals on a Wheel Stand Pro stand system = Sim Heaven if you don't have your own home cockpit setup.

All I know is the VKB's don't have toe brakes which to me seems to be one of the main reasons for getting pedals.

I had CH rudder pedals which lasted 10 years before they gave me trouble. I was going to repair them when my good friend gave me his Saitek pedals which are working fine.

I agree with opjose, those Saitek Pro Combat pedals are great. Only problem is that I think they've been discontinued, as I can't find them for sale anywhere.

Most of the Saitek product was discontinued after it was bought by Logitech, I am using the Saitek Cessna rudder pedals and you can't buy it anymore, Some used still on sale in Gumtree or Ebay but it's too pricey.
On my wish list : psssst, don't tell my wife about it!

I cant speak for the others but my crosswinds put all my other peripherals to shame.

I like the wood composite, although i initially thought i *needed* all metal.

I highly reccommened them.

I have the Thrustmaster TFRP. The sliding ones do not have the smoothest action and suffer a lot from stiction. The Thrustmaster TPR pedals are pretty nice. They are the dog's proverbials of rudder pedals. These are faultless and are adjustable for rudder and anti-torque.

I have the MFG crosswinds. They are an amazing set and extremely easy to customize.
