I'm gonna have a shot in the dark here and say that the Carenado will look amazing, but will be nowhere near the Leading Edge for flight performance. Carenado are nice planes, I have a few, but they're very simple in terms of start up etc. I have the Leading Edge and it looks great and has been updated for X Plane 11, though not 11.30. It seems very authentic and everything is modelled.

The LES 340 is a good plane, Well modelled with most if not all systems coded/modelled, An has a good feel to the handling. I have not seen an update for it since my purchase but i dont think there is much wrong with it, Really enjoyably to hand fly.
Cant say anything about the carenado version as my patience has grown thin with all their other unfinished models, Money grabbers, Yeah nah not this time

Les is really good and i believe it's better. I wouldn't spend my money on carenado, at least not full price.

Cerenado is a fps killer

I have the LES and for the most part everything works very well.

The LES does not allow you to start with engines running. There is an automated engine start utility but sometimes I just prefer to start a flight with engines running and the LES doesn't let you do that. The auto start works very well and doesn't take that long.

Most aircraft have the throttles move from flight Idle to full throttle. Then to reverse you press the keyboard key or programmed button on your throttle to go to reverse and then the throttle controls reverse. Not the LES. The throttle range includes the ground range, so during taxi you can't just pull the throttle all the way back and have to be aware of where your throttle is. So I end up sometimes during an approach pulling the throttles back too far and get into the ground range in flight. It just takes a little getting used to.

I have been having an issue with World Traffic 3. For some reason the LES Saab works well on the ground with World Traffic 3 traffic active, but as soon as I get airborne then the frame rate drops and gets jerky and unusable. I made a post about this but it seems I'm the only one having this issue.

So I've been thinking about getting the Carenado 340 to compare but haven't purchased it yet.

As an update I just tried flying the LES Saab 340A again, haven't flown it for a while. Twice I started a flight, set up World Traffic 3 flight plans, started engines and XP11 crashed before I could taxi. I rebooted between flights. Tried a third time, this time without setting up World Traffic 3. I got to the runway and took off and then XP11 crashed. Only statement in the log.txt file was that the application crashed, no other explanation or errors visible. I am running 11.32.

Guess I'll troubleshoot a bit more and look to see if there has been an update.

Update, No posts about the LES crashing with 11.32 and no update. Still version 1.51. So back to troubleshooting. That or guess I'll buy the Carenado.

Update. Two more tries and crashes. Finally disabled the World Traffic plugins and then got airborne. And regarding the autopilot, it's messed up in that it will only do half standard rate turns, so it won't turn to intercept courses correctly when on autopilot. The developer knows about that issue and says it will be fixed in the next update but that was months ago. So much for that developer putting out fixes. For me this is a pretty major bug.

If you have the Reality XP GTN 750 the LES Saab does not support integrating that into the instrument panel.

And spoke too soon, the Saab crashed on my current flight. So guess I will go out and purchase the Carenado. I don't need this garbage of an aircraft crashing XP11 all the time.

So I purchased the Carenado 340. I have 3 support requests in for this aircraft. First the is supposed to be an autopilot popup but I can't find any. Second, there is a plugin to download and install and no instructions on where it goes. Third. I use the Reality XP GTN 750 and I can't get the autopilot to work with NAV. So if this is any indication of this aircraft I think I'm going to be asking for a refund if that is possible.

Funnily enough, there were big issues with this aircraft on P3D also

I own both, the LES version is way more indepth if you like that, I prefer to fly the Carenado version. I would say the LES version is more of a Study Series.

And I just discovered that the Altimeter on the Carenado 340 is in millibars. Can't find a way to change it over to inches.

Do you need to buy the Reality XP GTN 750 addon for it to work with the Saab carenado version?

Yes. It's $50 for the Reality XP GTN 750. I purchased both the 750 and 650 for $50 each.

LES comes with a 200 page manual, tutorial and quick start guide. Carenado has a credits list.

So if I dont buy the GTN 750 I wont have a working GPS for the carenado Saab 340? 40 bucks + 50 for the gps is a bit steep for me :/
