Autogate on airports without jetways
Hello! I am still wondering how the autogate plugin works on airports without jetways. I opened this topic before, but I still do not have a good answer and don’t get how this works. Here is the link of an example airport.

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/37509-eheh-eindhoven-airport/

I did this before, but apparently it was not clear for some people what I meant.

Now I’ll say it again, look at the 2nd picture and then look at the Ryanair plane with the stairs. The question is how you get those stairs there on your plane. Scroll down and then you’ll see that you also need the autogate plugin for the airport’s scenery.

Or do I need an extra plugin for the stairs or something?

HOW DOES IT WORK? ARE THE STAIRS PART OF THE AUTOGATE PLUGIN? Btw, I know what the autogate plugin is, so don’t explain that to me.

I would be glad if anyone can make this finally clear.

You are confusing several things.

"Autogate" provides jetways and ground crew. Autogate DOES NOT provide stairs, baggage handling and ramps.

Ground Handling Deluxe provides dynamic stairs, baggage handling, additional crew and vehicles, fuel trucks, etc.

Static scenery is sometimes displayed on airports that includes stairs and ground vehicles.

etc.

Ok, but for what reason do you need autogate then on that example airport?

Thank you for making this finally clear, @opjose!

Re: Reason

Developers can choose to install the markers for animated jetways and associated ground handlers. If you then also have the Autogate plugin installed that plugin will change what appears in the airport so the animated jetway is active.

The effect is that if you pull into a jetway stall that has the marker set for the autogate plugin, you will see the parked jetway, and a ground crew handler with the paddles and maybe the animated gate display above him.

If you pull into the stall correctly and power down the plane and set the brakes, the jetway will extend and get close to the plane.

Taken together the overall effect is pretty neat, especially when you are dealing with airports that also feature dynamic interior scenery... e.g. passengers walking around inside the building.
So you land, pull into the stall with the help of the ground handler and as you hear the debarkation message (if you have that plugin too), the jetway seems to pull out and meet the plane... Of course you need to be flying a plane that matches the height of the jetway .

If you do not have the autogate plugin installed, you may still see a jetway, but it will not be animated nor automatically come out to meet your plane. Likewise the ground handler will not move.

Note Autogate does not provide stairs.

There are also some planes that provide their own stair objects that can be invoked from the plane's menu system... or in the case of a few highly detailed planes... are extended from the aircraft itself.

Ground Handling Deluxe is a separate plugin that adds even more vehicles and activity around your plane. When that is added to the mix you'll see baggage carts pull up and animated baggage being removed from the plane You can request refueling trucks, limos and buses to come out and meet the plane. There are even food carts that raise up along side the plane to replenish the galley.

Ground Handling Deluxe can provide stair vehicles that pull up to the plane to unload passengers.

And of course some airports have static planes that appear to have ground vehicles near by that do not move. These may be added by the airport creator from standard object libraries or add-on libraries.
