X-Plane 11

Very low fps on high end PC
I have an RTX 2080 ti, when playing my fps does not go above 20-30, have tried everything, dont have any fps limiters.
What's interesting is that I have played xplane on my previous PC which was not a high end PC, dont remember its GPU but anyways, fps on the old PC was around 100, i could even play on two monitors with fps around 60.
Who knows whats the problem now ? I have read that it is becuase xplane is not on Vulkan, and hence not going to work with my gpu well, does anyone know if the developers are doing anything ? This is f***ing annoying i payed money for this game and now i cant play it.
Did anyone have or has the same issue or did anyone find a solution ?

You need your AA set to the lowest AA. Not off but the lowest AA which is FXAA and you will get 45fps.

That AA settings is literally horrible. One level higher is pretty much required to even see the plane screens comfortably.

Since this is what Laminar recommends and strives for your statement is a contradictory to the design of the sim.

That may change in the future, but not in the current release.

Check the manual to see what Laminar says about proper FPS for this sim.

If you actually read the manual, it would say that 35 fps is ideal when you are rendering more objects. It doesn't say that 35 fps is what the sim should be run at. The following section details on how to get more fps and a smoother performance, and they even say that the fps should be to your preference. Which is what the OP wants. Perhaps you should read the manual.

Laminar can recommend whatever they want, but if I strive for 60fps I will try to get 60fps.

All these Zibo fan boys just click some buttons and get off on that, but if you want to improve in areas of landing and actual flying, you will want to maximize your frames. Here's some settings you should adjust: HDR should not be set above High, minimal differences in the Maximum setting. Objects can be set on Maximum or High because of how much VRAM you have. Reflections should be turned off because they don't make too much of a difference visually but eat frames. Texture quality should be Maximum as uncompressed are not supported in future updates and stupid considering the current version of X-Plane uses OpenGL. Antialiasing should not be set above 4xSSAA+FXAA as the maximum setting offers little increases in fidelity versus the one I mentioned. Make sure you have more than 16GB of ram with your graphics card, otherwise you will quickly run out of memory using other applications. X-Plane is not designed to run at maximum settings. Also keep in mind that every monitor that you use for X-Plane is an instance of X-Plane, so performance is absolutely crippled when using more than one. So I recommend not using VR ( it is ♥♥♥♥ in X-Plane anyways) and instead only using TrackIR on one monitor. Do all these things, and you will have an excellent X-Plane simulation.

PS: I'm a real pilot who uses X-Plane for training and I have been in this scene for over a decade.
Thanks

have changed the settings to what you suggest and has made a big difference for the better.Thank you.

I would avoid any plugin or tweak that changes LOD or FPS on demand like FlyAGI or 3jps etc. Instead, I would delete your preferences folder (except joystick settings) and your shaders folder as well. If you have Xvision or a shader mod, make a back up of that. Then delete them. Then I would actually remove ALL of your plugins to a separate folder and disable all of your custom scenery (xorganizer is helpful for this) and reload the sim. Then backtrack after that, reload a few bits of your scenery and then eventually your plugins. Usually...overwhelming majority of the time it has to do with a plugin or scenery issue. I have a 10708bg, 8086ki7 (naturally clocked to 5ghz), 32gb ram.....and I run a 2k main screen with 1080p tv for flight set up and get 35-50fps running on mid-to-high settings. This is likely a plugin issue.
