860 evo 2TB sata vs 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 2TB - performance
Well I wanted to upgrade my 860 evo 2TB Sata to the 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 2TB and I guess I just spent money for nothing so far.
First when installed I noticed the performance worst then the SSD so I thought the 970 evo plus needs to read all the files before getting good however that never happened unfortunately. Just to give a Idea according to the samsung magicia and CrystalDisk benchmark my 860 SSD EVO 2TB gives a score in Sequential Read : 10,282 and Write 10,236 VS a score of 3,563 and 3,343 for the 970 EVO plus.

How is it possible ?!?!
I thought it was some mistake of the program but I can noticed the HUGE difference in performance of both ssd.

I assume that since you mention crystal disk mark that the measurements are in MB/s. The numbers are about where they should be for the nvme.m2 drive. But you should not have been able to get 10,000 MB/s read/write throughput out of a SATA SSD.

You are talking about a motherboard with an m.2 slot, right?

But benchmarks aside, if you are really seeing slower disk I/O after this upgrade, then I would be inclined to look at these things:

1) That your pci/e is working as expected, and in particular that your chipset can provide enough pci/e lanes for all the devices. Your CPU, chipset, and motherboard may be such that you do not have enough lanes for all the devices that need lanes without sharing lanes. Your GPU most likely uses 16 lanes out of how many your CPU/motherboard can provide (usually 24).

2) That you have the right drivers for your chipset installed in your OS

3) That the samsung drivers are installed

4) That the .m2 drive is not overheating and throttling itself accordingly

5) That the bios is updated and teh bios settings for nvme are right, specifically that x4 is selected and not x2. Note, selecting x4 will cause the system to shut off something, usually a couple of sata ports. This gets back to the pci/e lane issue.
