First payware aircraft
I have been saving up and now I can get my first payware aircraft which one would be the best? I’m looking for a big jet.

The most complete aircraft has to be the FlyJSim 732 TwinJet Pro V3. Only downside is it's 1960s technology, and no autothrottle. But it's the #1 aircraft on my list.

The Flight Factor 320 Ultimate gives you the best systems simulation of an Airbus A320, albeit it's not quite finished. The price tag reflects just how complex the Airbus actually is.

The Flight Factor Boeing 757 is also a good choice if you don't know if you want to do short, medium or long haul flights.

Other great aircraft include the IXEG 733, Rotate MD-80 and the upcoming FlyJSim Boeing 727.

Zibo 737 and the Ultimate 737...
And they are free and better than probably 98% of all payware for X-plane (when it comes to big jets).
Once you fly the Zibo 737 which is freeware, you will never need any payware Boeing aircraft. Purchase payware aircraft only if you want to fly Airbus and not a fan of Boeing.

+1 on the Boeing 737 from FlyJSim.

The 727 from FlyJSim is great but they are working on Version 3. Wait until it is released.

Both are amazing.

+1 on the FlyJSim 732 (737-200). It's great to fly. You can use just the standard navigation instruments, the FMS, or the CIVA INS (which requires a $10 purchase).

I also like the "Maddog" MD-80.

Important to note: Most of the Payware-Aircrafts are not working with VR. In my Case all of my Carenado and the 777 WorldLiner does not work properly with VR. And the Publishers don't even think a second on fixing this.

My Suggestion: Save Your Money and use the Built-In 737 with Zibo-Mod. And perhaps think about buying an VR-Headset.

It's probably a better idea to see if the aircraft is still in active development before purchase. There's also a community-list of VR-compatible aircraft.

Maybe post an URL to that? :-) (if you have it)

Agree with Mr. T - Zibo 737-800 - 900.

It really depends on what type of airliner you want. If you want to have a small regional plane, the best would be the JRollon CRJ200 with the BSS sounds. If you want a bigger plane then that, the Rotate MD80 is a great choice. If you want more flexability, the Flight Factor A320 is probably the best plane avaiable. If you still want to go bigger, the Flight Factor 757 is a great choice, but a tad on the overpriced side. If you want a wide body, the best option is the Flight Factor 767, or the Flight factor 777. However, unless you have a recent NavData, I would hold off on the 777. If you STILL want to go bigger, the SSG 747 is a good choice, but nowhere as deatailed as the others. I wouldn't reccomend going bigger as the Peter A380 is'nt that good in my mind. I think the best all-around plane is the FFA320, but at $90, it is expencive, but the price tag reflects the quality. If you want a older plane, any of the flyjsim products are a great choice, but if you are thinking of the 727, wait till the v3. I can give advice on any of these planes or others as I own them (apart from the a380, but from what i've seen, I dont think its that good.). Also hold off buying a VR headset as the other said. They are great peices of tech and quite cool I think, but you NEED a good enough computer unless you want to fly at 2 fps. Also, not many planes support VR, and if you just fly the zibo 737 (which is great btw), you will quickly get bored of it as I did. Also, if you want a a320, dont buy anything else but the ffa320, It is the best a320 addon in the flight sim market (I think), and no one else on XP11 has the features that it does.
So... I see all of these larger airplanes, larger airliners that are study-level and such, are such a price compared to the price range of aircraft around $40-34 on http://store.x-plane.org/.

So... are none of those smaller jets as detailed and realistic/complete and what not? Since none of them are nearly as expensive as the higher priced larger airliners?

I was on the fence about what to decide to get as the first payware plane, once I actually do I guess. I was going to avoid larger aircraft. But after doing more research and a change of heart I think I want either the 767[store.x-plane.org] or 757[store.x-plane.org]. Or, that Saab 340 looks neat also I guess.

But also too many light aircraft that look cool also besides just the airliners, but I am confused as to the ratio of level of authenticity/completeness I guess, to price. All of the smaller aircraft in the $30-41 price range are just as authentic/complete mostly as these big airliners that cost a bit more?

Will they fix the issue with the 777 and VR? Not that I use VR but if I decided to later possibly, probably not though. Aside from that what's wrong with the 777, with the slow development?

I would ask what type of flying you want to do? I have many heavies (FJS 732, Mike Wilson L1011, 707, DC8) and quite a few twin engine propeller aircraft. Personally I like flying the twin props more than the big airliners. Why? They require more controll in bad weather, i.e. they get bounced around a lot more than heavy aircraft, hence they are more challenging to fly. Also I like to fly VFR at lower altitudes and enjoy the scenery. I get bored doing the airliner high altitude thing. On the other hand, heavy aircraft are more stable, easier to land and to control in the air.

In the twin prop arena my favorites are from Carenado. The B1900D, 690B Turbo Commander, Alabeo PA44 Seminole. But then again I am an old school pilot and prefer the older stype steam gauges over the newer digital panels. I guess that comes down to personal preference. As to the level of detail someone asked, I find the aircraft I mentione above to be very detailed. All of the switches and dials work. So again what type of flying do you want to do?

Amazing how many people own X-plane with its excellent flight fidelity, then they all buy autopilot tubes instead of actually hand flying some smaller aircraft. Really missing out on what FLYING is all about lads, not programming FMSs.

People are different. I hate handflying and love the "auto-tubes". Just live with it.
