You may want to check your audio settings.

Hidden deeply in the audio settings there is a check box about enabling/disabling "exclusive control" of your audio device.

You may need to disable it.

You should start by going to

Steam / Help / System Information

Then cutting and pasting everything that appears in the new window into a post here.

Ey man, did you solve the issue? I have the same problem and I cannot find the solution...
sheolux Jul 31, 2018 @ 8:27am
I solved the problem! If any other have the same issue, just go into the speaker properties, then in advanced tab uncheck "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device". Worked for me.

Thanks!

Possibilities:

You could have the sound routed to the Digital output when you are using Analog speakers or vice versa.

Your monitor may support HDMI audio input which is overriding your Realtek output.

Your Realtek drivers may need a clean re-installation to fix routing issues.

Your Realtek drivers may have effects enabled that is fouling up X-plane.

Remember that you also may need to delete the X-Plane preferences after updating drivers or making changes before X-plane recognizes whatever you have attempted.
