X-Plane 11
What are your "must have" mods?
Just curious what mods everyone uses and thinks are must haves for the simulation.

These are all my modifications[docs.google.com]. (Google Forms & Docs are secure links.) Don't go about downloading them all - there's a clear warning about that contained within. I'm also writing up how to get more out of X-Plane 11, so you can skip everything after the big red warning to the second half of page 3, if you want.

In terms of the essentials, Better Pushback, Autogate, FlyWithLua (albeit you need to find some scripts for it to be of any use), Headshake (if you can't afford XPRealistic Pro), landing [vertical] speed plugin, Little Navmap and X-RAAS V2 are great plugins to get. You might also want to consider Ortho4XP and Reshade, just casually seraching for airports you want online, MisterX6's airports (payware quality for free), and the best of them all: the Zibo modified default 737.

^^ All these are free.

Not a general mod since it only applies to a few payware aircraft, but the Reality Expansion Pack by Simcoders does bring a lot of good stuff to the table. Checklists, maintenance, better flight model, and systems monitoring (e.g.- It'll politely let you know that you're an idiot for letting the RPM go too high during a cold start.).

^^ Not free

Well isn't the strength of FWL that you can easily create own scripts for your specific needs?

Yep. I just find the datarefs that do useful things, then modify to get the best experience.
Zibo mod for the Laminar 737
BetterPushback
My mods so far:

1. HD_Mesh_V4 (free) - Significantly better high-res global mesh areas. Easy to download and install. Warning - These HD mesh 'tiles' take up hugh space on the old hard drive but it's definitely worth it for improving those hilly/mountainous areas you want to explore in detail in your Cessna, etc. at lower altitudes. Not really needed if you prefer airliner type high altitude flying..

2. Ortho4XP - (free) Photoreal satellite-photo-based scenery creation. This powerful program is incredible but has a steep learning curve. Luckily there are gazillions of YouTube tutorials.. It not only creates accurate high-res mesh, on par with HD_Mesh_V4, but also will create overlays to generate autogen roads, houses, city buildings (limited) and power lines. Warning - Scenery created is detailed so also requires massive hard drive space. Of course, scenery areas created with Ortho4XP work seamlesstly with adjacent default XP11 scenery. Resolution of scenery areas, and within scenery areas, is configurable. This means you can specify higher resolution scenery at airports, or anywhere you choose, and lower resolution areas in large unimportant areas. This allows you to save hard drive space.

3. FaceTrackNoIR- FREE headtracking similar to the excellent but severely overpriced TrackIR system. FaceTrackNoIR instead uses your webcam to track your face/head movements, hence the name.. It works really well but is dependent upon the quality of your webcam. I bought a cheap PS3 Eye Camera via eBay . It's only 640x480 resolution, but has a high refresh rate. It can also be converted into a cheapo TrackIR clone by removing the IR filter behind the lens and using it with an IR track clip. These are cheap to make or you can find some cheap clones on eBay.

🐉 Ðŗąçø 🐉 I see you list HeadShake 1.8 as usable in VR. Dosn't it make you sick? Did you have to do a lot of configuring it for VR?
And do you just both X-life and World Traffic at the same time? (seems so from your list).

Also in your list you have a "?" on Xchecklist 1.28. Well, heres good news, 1.29 is out with VR support: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/144347-xchecklist-for-vr-ver-129-beta/

Just to check that you don't use the two together?

I don't use every plugin at once, so some info may be outdated. I'll test headshake again.

As for XChecklist, I don't use it too often, hence I've yet to update it. Will do soon however.
Okey.
Xchecklist have some weird problems in VR still (but xchecklist is still beta VR).
And headshake did nothing for me in VR. Not sure that it works at all.
All the mods are found here? Or most, except for that head tracking modification that person mentioned? I know I at least saw a few mentioned above.

Also, this looks cool but is paid. It looks really detailed and educational, I was interested in it myself since I am a new to flight sims and wanted to learn as much as possible in any way I can. And it appears like it would be really helpful and comprehensive:

Most mods are on forums.x-plane.org. The rest are scattered around the Internet. It's just a matter of knowing what you want. Just don't do what I do and install every possible plugin. The plugins list almost touches the bottom of my monitor I have so many. And quite a few of them don't even show up.
HD & UHD mesh https://www.alpilotx.net/ is a must have, the best thing is they are FREE!

I just downloaded the UHD area around the Grand Tetons and WOW!!!!!!
