X-Plane 11
Pilot2ATC Question
I was able to d /l and install the program, but I could not d / l the companion software it needs. The site is down. Does anyone use this program? I have threee questions?

1) Is it worth $60? That's more for a plug-in than I spend on most games? This is odd.
2) How is the customer service? I emailed the compamy two days ago, and explained the problem. I haven't heard back. I noticed on his forum that this problem has been going on for at least a week now. So they are selling a product that they know cannot be installed. This is also a concern for me.

ATC has bee a problem for me in X-Plane. Not happy with stock. 124th ATC is better, but still not that great. Since it is free, I'd definately recommend that over stock. It's a good app--I just persoannly need more.

I'm thinking of trying PilotEdge trial. It's expenssive, but a year's subscription is just about what one would pay for this plug in and WT 3 combined. When one looks at it in this way--it seems quite reasonable.

I use Pilot2ATC and like it very much. If you need assistance with Pilot2ATC you can post your issue on: https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/713-pilot2atc-users-forum/
I get fairly quick responses when posting issues on that forum. What is the issue you have installing Pilot2ATC. The latest version is 2.5.0.3 R2. For it to work you have to install XPUIPC. I just checked the link in the user guide for Pilot2ATC and see that the site apparently for some reason is offline for maintenance. I have looked for another link to download XPUIPC but haven't found any. Does anyone know of another site where you can download XPUIPC?
Ah I found a link in one of the forums. https://www.fsairlines.net/downloads/XPUIPC.2.0.4.8.zip. I had version 2.0.0.0 so I just downloaded this and installed it. Seems to be working ok. After extracting the XPUIPC folder to your X-Plane11\Resources\Plugins folder, start X-Plane 11 and once you have a flight started then start Pilot2ATC and once that is up hit the "Connect" button and you should be good to go.
Pilot2ATC takes some getting used to. You have to train the speech to text in windows to recognize your voice. There are instructions in the user guide on that. Also you have to get used to how Pilot2ATC wants you to say things. For example, during vectors to an approach such as an ILS it sends you over to tower. Tower then requests you report when you are "established on final". Normal this is the report when you are at the final approach fix. When reporting this to tower you need to say "established on final" in your transmission. Otherwise tower will not respond. Once you get used to the terminology and how to say things Pilot2ATC is great! It will even let you bypass filing a flight plan, just change frequency to ground, request taxi (you can specify which runway) and once contacting tower you can state "(Your Call Sign) reqdy for departure to remain in pattern" and it will clear you for takeoff and give you your pattern direction. You can request touch and go landings, request the option, and much much more.
Yes, you found the problem I had. I could not find thje companion software you mentioned. It just had a message in German I think. As long as you say this file works, I'll d / l it. A few other people are looking for this now--check out his own forum which I think is on Avsim. The dev owes you a solid for providing this. You may want to post this on the avsim site too to cover him and help the others.

Just one thing, my Norton antivirus alerted on one of the files when I extracted them. The file was win.xpl. It alerted on the same file during other installations. I just told it to restore it and exclude it. Just to let you know. Norton has issues with a lot of things. What was the site where you say this was being discussed?
I posted the issue here along with a few others--the link gives instructrions on how to post in the forum which I think is avsim.

Let me know how Pilot2ATC works out for you. Also I tried P2A using my regular 5.1 speakers and a microphone and had trouble with P2A understanding me over the background sounds. I have a gaming headset with a built in microphone. That works very well with P2A.

I love pilot2atc! I've had no issues with it. It also does a good job not vectoring you into mountains. My only grip is the latest update has made loading waypoints very slow. I have had good luck in contacting Dave as well.

Thanks for this link. It worked and I was able to get everything set up this evening. I already have a question. When Pilot to ATC is open, it takes up a lot of the screen. It also seems to disable certain functions on my keyboard. When it is open, I cannot use keyboard shortcut keys like "c" for free view and "b" for brakes. When I minimize Pilot2ATC, these functions work again.

How do you manage this? Is there a shortcut to min / max the screen or disable / enable ATC on the fly? Do you keep the program screen open through the whole flight?
