So if it is that far out and correct me if I'm wrong here.....that we are entitled to two version upgrades counting the original sale, and if a number of upgrades are submitted before the xplane 12 release; will we have to rebuy Xplane 11 to get the new upgrades that we are not entitled to?
I hope this doesn't sound too confusing.
That does sound confusing! Very simply, if things continue the way they are, X-Plane 12 will be another purchase just like 11 - a one-off purchase. I think Laminar Research are considering in-app purchases now. I could be wrong on that, but I think it's to do with declining sales, and likely increased piracy.
This answer is from an airline captain of over 12 years of airline flying and I can say that if you spend the extra money to get professional add-ons such as IXEG 737-300 or Flight Factor A320 and get the appropriate handbooks from Mike Ray at Utem press you will be flying an aircraft that on current equipment is as close as you will ever get to flying the real thing.
Two words - get it...........
Hi Stratoblaster......3 words- I Got It. I've had it for quite some time and have been enjoying it for sure. I hope one day I will learn enough and hope to someday try one of those planes! That book sounds interesting.....sounds like my first step in trying to fly the big boys. If you don't mind me asking, you have any advice on knowing which Star and Sid to choose when flying? I guess it would all come down to where your heading and where your coming from right? Just seems confusing for me when I see the charts and not sure knowing which is best. And yes, I do not fly at all in real life so I am totally green on this stuff. Thanks for the info!
For me, it depends on the direction I'm coming from, my flight plan route's end waypoint and limitations of SIDs and STARs that dictate what I choose.
If you use Little NavMap, you can view every SID and STAR, plus transitions that makes routing from one airport to the next a breeze.
I am intersted in what stratoblaster thinks about this as well.
