FPS Locked at 30
Hello all,

When I display FPS, it stays locked at 30. Changing in game graphics settings has no impact on FPS.

In nVidia control panel, I have V-sync set to ON.

I'm playing in triple screen with center at 3440x1440 (144hz max) and each side at 1920x1080 (60 hz max).

My system:
i9 9900k, nvidia 1080, 32 GB ram, 1TB 970 EVO m.2.

My concern is not really what fps I'm getting, but that it appears locked at 30 for some reason. Any ideas?

Because v-sync ON, and your system isn't able to run it at above 60 FPS (your monitor's refresh rate).

You can try switching v-sync to off or adaptive.

Additional data. When I set the side monitors to "nothing" in game, and am only using the center screen, it locks FPS to 60. That's half the limit I have set in nvidia control panel.

So some setting somewhere is limiting my FPS to half refresh rate...but where? I have Vsync set to "on" as noted in OP. I didn't see anywhere in the game where I could change this.

I'm guessing with rendering only 1 screen instead of all 3, your system is fast enough to run it at above 60 FPS but not above 120 FPS, in which case v-sync ON limits it to 60.

Hi Marley,

My main monitor can do 144 hz (native, no overclock necessary) and is gsync compatible. Also, I don't get the "adaptive" option in nvidia control panel...just on/off/fast.

So in this config, using only center monitor, vsync on, I should get some variable refresh rate, upto 120 (I limited it to 120 in nvidia control panel), right?

Lol, we are cross posting. I will try it set to vsync OFF.

Ahh you have g-sync. No experience with that. But what you describe is classic non g-sync behavior. Are you sure g-sync is activated when you use only the center monitor?

So, more data...

When I set Vsync to "off", frame rate is no longer limited. I saw ~ 73 at 3440x1440.

I also noted some minor tearing, so apparently, even though G-sync is on in nvidia control panel (monitor technology set to G-Sync compatible), it doesn't work with xplane.

It also appears that setting vsync to "ON" also limits FPS to half your monitor's refresh rate. Odd.

So since it appears Xplane doesn't like Gsync, and it limits FPS to half your monitor when vsync is on, I'll have to set vsync to on, because I don't want tearing.

Marley, have you ever read anything about xplane not liking/using gsync? I can't find any mention of it.

I read somewhere the claim that G-Sync isn't available for the OpenGL or Vulkan API unless the software explicitly supports it (I interpret this as this would be only available out of the box for software that uses the Direct3D API).

But I'm not sure if this really correct and this was years ago, maybe someone can confirm or correct this who knows for sure?
