Active Sky (Cloud Textures??)
What are you Active Sky owners using for your sky colours/textures?

Not using anything to modify sky colors. I just install the high resolution clouds provided by ASXP.

John, what are you using, or most favouring at the moment? I know you have both AS and xEnviro. I learnd that xEnviro has volumetric clouds.

I wish I could give you an answer but I switch between the two. There are some times when xEnviro just looks better than ASXP with xVision. But xEnviro has issues with the scintillating areas of the clouds and (for me) the flickering of cloud layers along the horizon under certain conditions. I keep my hopes up for xEnviro that they will be able to fix these issues. I do not have any such issues with ASXP and xVision. The only thing I don't care for with ASXP with xVision is the appearance of the clouds under an overcast. It just doesn't look right to me but that is probably just my personal preference.

Thanks for thoughts and opinion John.

Today I was comparing the two for a few hours this afternoon. In most of the areas I liked the sky conditions I saw in both and didn't have the horizon flickering issue with xEnviro. Then later on I did a flight in my home state flying from KDEN to KPUB. I started off with ASXP with xVision and really liked the clouds I saw. Then during the flight the weather got bad and ASXP had me going through a thunderstorm. I was getting the ..... kicked out of me and the aircraft was uncontrollable. Before I crashed I changed over to xEnviro and low and behold the weather was now clear. The ATIS for KPUB stated the weather was clear also. So I don't know where ASXP got the thunderstorm from.

If you are really interested in getting a weather engine that doesn't have any issues (at the present time) you should probably pick up ASXP. I would recommend adding xVision as the clouds it has are very nice. The only thing I would suggest is turning down the turbulence in ASXP as I think it's a bit overdone (which reminds me I need to do that as well).

I like where xEnviro is going but it's not there yet.

If you would like I could post some screenshots of both so you could compare but a screenshot won't really show you all you would need to see.

Screenshots not really necessary John but thanks for the offer. I'm currently using FSGRW and I'm quite pleased with it but of course, it's only a weather engine, no textures, colours or cloud types so I'm just using Xplane default at the moment but it can get a little boring and I really miss beautiful sunsets/rises.

Any idea when Hi-Fi Simulation will release their addon package for the textures and colours??

If you have a weather injector engine then you may want to look at xVision. The presets for xVision set sky color, cloud textures, etc. Take a look: http://x-vision.pro/
I purchased my copy through simmarket. It's about $20 US.

I don't know if Hi-Fi is working on textures or colors for ASXP. I believe they are working on an upgraded weather engine that replaces the xp11 one.

Yes, I've read a lot of positive comments about xVision. I may just go for that.
