http://x-plane.com/manuals/FMS_Manual.pdf page 32 mentions the folder OUTPUT/FMSPLANS but I haven't been able to load anything from that folder.
You can cache the terrain to circumvent the Internet requirements of the on-line planners.
It also gives you moving maps, elevation, etc.
And the price is right!

I'm using http://onlineflightplanner.org/
I'm selecting .fms (X-Plane) as desired file format
Departure from EHAM
Destination is EDDL
Airplane is 737-800
I'm creating the plan and click "go to files"
I'm downloading the file EHAMEDDL.fms
I'm saving the file to SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\X-Plane 11\Output\FMSplans
I'm starting X-Plane from Steam
I'm doing a new flight
Selecting the 737-800
Location is EHAM
I'm waiting till it's done loading
I'm going to the panel (forgot the name) to enter the flight path
As the manual tells me to do, I click ROUTE MENU
I click CO PILOT LIST
And then I don't see what I should do next. I see no flight plans shown up here. All I see here is
What am I doing wrong here?
Give it an easy to find name such as AAAA.
Exit and look where the AAAA.FMC file ended up. This is where your plans should go.
I found that in a couple of cases after doing this I could afterwards then retrieve flight plans when this would not work before. As if permissions were changed after saving once...
First of all, you have to remember the name of the .FMS file, the easiest way is using departure and arrival, like KLAXKPIA.fms, this will help if you have many flight plan on the folder.
Youve done right so far, before you click CO ROUTE you have to enter the filename KLAXKPIA and after that you can click the CO ROUTE,,basically you order the FMC to search a file name to load in CO ROUTE
Check the video by Q8Pilot in youtube
And im not sure if the default 737-800 FMC is capable of doing this, but 737-800 zibo mod from the .org is really a massive upgrade from the defaul and im sure it can handle the major FMC function because ive tried it, and its free also
Great tip! Excellent planner. Thank you for posting that!!
The best thing about it, which other planners do not do, is visuallize the SID and STARs and their entry and exit points... very nice!
