Study Level Aircraft

Hi there. I am looking at purchasing this simulator for "hardcore" usage.

From browsing around I know that scenery in this sim is pretty decent as far as freeware goes, same for payware.

But my request to you folk that know this space better than I do currently, is to list all available STUDY level aircraft for this sim. If the aircraft is in development, if you could provide a possible release date that would be good, if not, just put it's in development.

In order for me to seriously consider moving to this from option "2", I need to be sure that there is a large supply of highly detailed aircraft for this sim. If I can find that to be the case, I am certain this will be a well worth while transition.

There are a few, but not too many yet. Fortunately, developers are starting to realise X-Plane is being taken more seriously, so there may be many more study-level aircraft in years to come. Here are some I'd consider study-level:

Cessna 172SP Skyhawk[store.x-plane.org]

Boeing 757 Version 2 Professional[store.x-plane.org]

Not sure if this is study-level, but it's probably the most reputable aircraft in X-Plane at the moment: Rotate MD-80 Pro[store.x-plane.org]

There are a good few other GA aircraft, but my knowledge is a bit sketchy around those aircraft.

However, the ultimate study-level aircraft, which has no set release date (and I really can't give you a release date on this one) is the Flight Factor Airbus A320. Maybe within the next one-two months. This aircraft is so complex, that real-world pilots will be able to train using this aircraft, featuring every possible detail imaginable in a flight simulator. Over 10,000 simulated sensors, every failure will be modelled, an excellent model inside and out, extreme attention to detail in terms of systems and a lot more. The only gripe I have with this developer is that they are known to have not finished one of their aircraft, but I hope this will get the full treatment. Sounds are also a downfall for them, so I hope they'll be able to incorporate an FSLabs A320-style sound set one day.

There was also the QPAC A320, with 2D panels used for flight training, but 24 hours ago the developer notified us it would no longer be sold due to a persoanl tragedy at QPAC, so they decided to give their systems to Flight Factor's A320.

EDIT: Flight Factor A320 could come next week! Please bear in mind that it's an open beta, and if you've never flown X-Plane or Airbus before, I'd not recommend getting it yet.

I can vouch for the $30 airfoil lab Cessna 172. It's a very good GA plane. I did send them two unanswered emails, but it's still a good plane.

I wish there was a "study level" Cirrus Vision Jet. I don't think I would fly much else!

Or a mod for the stock one like the one for the default 737.
