If you are in the middle of a long flight and decide to save the SIMULATION state, then when you later restart the X-Plane program, you can reload the file.
However when you do your plane will be back on the ground at the airport you were closest to when you saved.
This can be problematic if you are flying a big HEAVY, and then find your plane on a small field municipal airport without enough runway for takeoff.
can not understand why they never add a simple save game into simulations anymore
even in bus simulator 16 can not save durring drive
they can not always expect us to be free sitting and playing active 4 hours + in one turn
plus there is always the risk a game crash or other issue we are forced to restart the entire thing
really hope they will add a saving feature in future
ty the answering :)
The issue we have is if Laminar Research want to save every dataref, it would take a looonngg time to code each and every one to properly - Something no one really wants to do.
That being said, we can't pause or quit aircraft IRL, so I guess we should just do non-stop flights.
IRL civil pilots DO need a bathroom break!
we play a game we not play real life some really need to learn this
it simple is important we need be able to stop and continue at any time
if one were this busy in real life they sure not choosing to become a pilot in real
but let game be a game already :/
annoying these "in real life u can not" comments
You do realize this is a game? FSX which is more than 10 years has save feature so there's no excuse for XP11 not to have one. It's really a shame not being able to fly longer distance, like intercontinental flights. In this day or age intercontinental flights should be available without any questions.
With things like this you need to change your mindset away from the "game" mentality.
The "let it be a game" school of thought does not apply nor do the developers tend to follow that.
That is why you are not awarded "experience points", "power-ups" etc.
However your flight time is logged just as in IRL.
With programs like this people want emulation of reality not "gameplay". Asking for game type features is normally fruitless since you are automatically in the minority.
FSX has similiar "save" problems. e.g. plane positions are not properly saved, nor are ATC vectors, etc. It's also a very old sim that keeps track of far less.
You can keep asking though. The developer forums are a much better place to post this type of thing..
Good luck with what that.
In a proper simulator you should be to start from mid flight even tho that's not realistic. It's a simulator not real life, you should be able to start in specific situations for you to simulate, and if that was implemented a save feature in mid flight wouldn't be hard to implement. Keep in mind as well that in real life you are two pilots flying an airplane that can give the other a little break. Since you are able to pause you should he able yo save. Don't mix up real life with simulators. If you want to try flying a long trip for the realistic feal without saving then do, no one stopping you, just don't force others to di the same, cuz others might want to simulate other things, or simply have fun during their free time.
Best advice though. Set up to pause at top of descent (that way you don't overshoot the destination - some planes have this as a few and there are also other mods to implement this globally). Plan you flights accordingly. I usually do 1-3 hour flights, with 3 hour flights being perfect for going out for a bike ride, no reason to just sit around and watch the clouds.
I rather like to just fly approaches or special procedures and immediately repeat them instead of using these simulators for playing the "I'm a pilot" and do full length flights game with them. ;-)
