X-Plane 11

X-Plane 11

Beta access?
http://www.x-plane.com/kb/using-x-plane-betas/

"run the X-Plane installer/updater and pick “update”; then check the “Check for new Betas”

What do they mean:
a) Do above in Xplane 10 - does it work with Steam version?
b) Buy Xplane 11 @ Laminar and do things in Xplane 11? No, it's out February?
c) (I could also opt-in to a beta branch xplane 10, Steam side.

I am confused.

All full versions of X-plane come with an "Updater" app that you can run whenever you'd like to check and see if there's a new updated version available for your copy of xplane.

What you pasted above are the instructionns for how the x-plane "updater" app works for those who either wish to include or exclude themselves from updating to a beta version of their installed version of the "non-Steam" x-plane.

I'm pretty sure the Steam version of Xplane likely works differently, and will not use the xplane updater app as described above...Steam software tends to be self-updating and requires no special actions by the user. You can purchase xplane v10 on Steam, but NOT v11 yet on Steam. If you want v11 now instead of waiting then you can only purchase it from Laminar themselves and download and install it yourself.

Hope this leaves you less confused :-)

Yeah thx for taking time to reply Xplane10/Steam does not have the updater application. Xplane 10 Steam beta branch will leave Xplane in the Version 10 realms.

Well, if Laminar would give us Steam keys if we buy now @ Laminar, I'd buy @ Laminar. If not, I'll wait for it hitting Steam.

In the meantime you can download the X-Plane 11 beta demo from Laminar. It's fully featured, but only lets you play in 15-20 minute sesions. I could never get into 10, but getting into 11 is very easy with the UI improvements.

So, reviving this topic... I have XP11 from Steam, and I 'd like to opt into the betas. However, Steam is prompting for a beta access code. Does anyone know what that is or how to obtain it?

You should not be prompted for the code. All you need to do is select "Public Beta" from the pull down.

At worst reboot and restart Steam. Make sure your Steam client is up to date.
