Hey folks, am new to X-Plane. How do you get rid of the pilot's seat so I can have a complete view of the instruments. I can't figure it out for the life of me. The program can only zoom out so much and the instrument cluster is partially blocked from the left side. Geez............

arrow keys move your head left right up and down. comma and period key slides you back and forward.

It doesn't work. I could only see the rear of the left pilot's seat. What am I missing? This should be a no-brainer , right?

It sounds like you are having the same problem I had at first. You are trying to get more of the cockpit in view correct? and if you zoom out too much then the pilot seat appears in front of you right? If this is your problem then theres a simple fix. Go to graphics settings and in the lower part near monitor settings, there is a setting for field of view. I put mine at about 110 to mimic real life (i think 114 is real life). It looks great. Let me know if this solves your problem.

Mateo...u da man! heck, you were far better that their own tech support guy! Perfect @ 114. Thx soooooo much!! Geez...they could've made 114 as the default setting. I don't know what their logic was.

That people could do it themselves. That and different monitor sizes look better or worse given a particular FOV.

Setting it at 114 would have just caused somebody else to have a problem with it.

I guess you're right sunset. Manual should've given us more info on that 'coz it was so frustrating. Good for those people who figured it out. Just had this sim for less than 24 hrs.

No, I understand don't get me wrong. That is just my opinion given how in depth people have had to go into settings and test everything to get it perfect for them(A la FSX/P3D) and that X-Plane 10 had a variety of more graphics options than 11.

Sweeet, no problem man!, Yeah there is a lot on tinkering. I just moved from fsx so im trying to cover every single settings option haha. Makes a crazy difference when you get the whole cockpit in view huh?

hahaha...what a heck of a difference Mateo. I just made the switch myself from FSX. Just testing this baby out. What do you guys think of Goodway Flight Planner? It looks good on paper. Just wondering if you've tried that out. How's the Flight Planner on the x-Plane?

I've heard good things, but I personally use EFASS. Though I do use an online one when I create a .PLN file so my Radar Contact 4 won't crash(It doesn't like the new .PLN's EFASS makes).

Gotta keep flight simming positive.

I haven't tried that out. All I've done gps/flight route wise is either using an online flight planner and putting everything Into the fmc. I really do miss the flight planner on fsx but this being more hands on I think I'm starting to like. Other way I did was online flight planner and downloading it as a fms and dragging that file into the xplane folder. That way when I pull up the fmc I can click it and it enteres everything in for me.

I don't bother with vanilla ATC. I find it rather atrocious myself and stopped using it very shortly after playing XP10 for the first time.

If you want quality ATC there are 3 options out there to make it wonderful:

Pilot2ATC (Includes voice recognition)

PFEtoXplane (Pro Flight Emulator) (Allows for voice recognition if you own Multicrew Experience)

RC4toXplane (Radar Contact 4) (Allows for voice recognition if you own Multicrew Experience)

My personal favorite is Radar Contact 4 with MCE and the replacement voice pack made by Meatwater.

There are also a few smaller ones out their such as the one that is bundled with X-Life and some freeware ones(They don't stack up to the 3 I mentioned above though)
