Beechcraft Baron 58 autopilot won't turn on.
I was tring to fly the Beechcraft Baron 58 and I can't get the autopilot to turn. The on/off button doesn't seem to do anything.

Has anyone else been able to get it to work?

Try turning FD (Flight Director) on and off. You should get a warning when turning it off, which tells you the flight director was just enabled.

Thanks i'll try that.

This plane is really buggy. I got the auto pilot to sort of work. It follows heading and Nav, but it won't hold altitude. Then the air speed indicator kept climbing and now it's gone around twice and I can't get the elevator trim to work.

I left the plane alone for an hour and came back. Now it's at 20,000 feet and flying around in in circles because the auto pilot isn't working again (this time the lights are on, but it's not flying the plane).

Sorry to say, but "you're holding it wrong" :)
The autopilot on the Baron works exactly like it does in a real plane that I fly :)
There's a little cluster of indicator lights over the attitude indicator, and those lights tell you what the autopilot is doing. For example, for altitude hold mode, you should see the letters "ALT" light up in this little cluster.

I didn't notice the lights the first time, but I found the buttons and pushing AP and then the Heading button didn't make the plane hold heading. It didn't seem to do anything, thats why I thought it was broken.

When I was messing with it today I noticed the lights and got it to hold heading and even follow a NAV signal, but I couldn't get it to hold altitude. Also, the air speed indicator needle went around the gauge like 4 times and the elevator trim didn't seem to have any effect on the pitch. Then it eventually broke again and I couldn't get the AP to do anything again.

Sounds to me like your flight controls are interfering with the autopilot. Make sure your joystick is properly calibrated so that it is completely centered when the autopilot is on.
Like in real life, the autopilot only has so much authority as it has trim available. From what you are saying it sounds like the autopilot is fighting a control input, and just doesn't have enough trim.

Maybe, I do alt+tab to different windows a lot. Maybe my joystick got off center.

I still don't know why the air speed indicator was acting wierd, but it was kind of funny.

I am flying with the autopilot and for example I move the levers of the RPM and the FD is activated and the autopilot is deactivated as I can avoid it
