If I Download the demo and later bought it will I need to redownload?

This is not about the ingame progression I know that this one carry over, already it will carry from the time i played it on the ubisoft app but I mean the downloaded files if I download the demo will it automatically switch to full game without redownlading?

It'a pretty much the full game.
You don't need to download any files after purchase.
It was like that 2-3 months ago.

it does force you to download again. im having this issue. i donwloaded the demo on steam and then bought it on steam and the steam wants me to download the full version again. copy pasting the files into the steamapps/common/crew motorfest doesnt fix the issue

I just got it and managed to make it work

Am gonna presume that you started to download TCM and then proceeded to copy paste those files into steamapps/common. It doesn't work this way cause the download cache is in a different folder

What I did is I installed TCM and uninstalled it. That created the empty folder inside common. Then I paste the content of the demo inside that folder and last I go to steam and install TCM again, this time it won't start downloading, it will just validate the files. Downloaded and extra 200 mb and all works

Worked for me, thanks. I was surprised steam didn't automatically do this, but I was saved from being mildly irritated from the longer wait of a complete redownload.

Edit: just used this to copy my red dead 2 files from rockstar install over to steam(got upgraded version on steam for easier overlay integration etc) as well. Nice.
