Simple answer: physics.
TCM may be an arcade game, but on the game's engine side of things the handling is still calculated like a sim. At least that is how it was in TC2, which is why slamming widebodies on certain cars made them perform a lot better.
Plus: cars automatically get lowered upon installing better suspensions. Pretty sure cars would start behaving like dogpoo if you could slam them further.
