If you enjoyed the school setting, the 10 years old "Obscure" might be worth a look. Not scary at all, but it was quite entertaining when it was new.

Another one here on Steam I would like to mention is "Deadly Premonition", but it is far too strange and bizarre to give a recommendation.

I remember Obscure, I believe it was promoted as "teenage survival horror". The co-op thing bugged me because I could never get anyone to play with me, so I ended up with most of the characters dead lol.

Uhm.. That's kinda condescending. I believe western horror games can be good as long as they don't try to emulate asian horror. ;)

Well comedy wouldn´t do it justice; the whole game (as far I´ve been into it, couple of days...) was one huge homage to David Lynchs Twin Peaks. I loved it, but RL stopped my progress long enough that I just couldn´t continue where I had to leave it. Someday...

Not on steam, but theres game called "White Day"
It has been abandonware for the longest time and it has been translated to english and needs a bit of patching with the fanmade patches and all that. Its not really a pretty game, but for such a simple looking game its one of the spookiest games out there. Easily.
Never learned why it turned out such a way, but its more or less of a "cult" hit amongst spooky game fans.
