These are the most common questions and answers for DreadOut

Here are the minimum requirements:
OS: Windows 7 / 8 64 bits
Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM minimum 128 Bit
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 5 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

Currently DreadOut only support 64 bit system, we're still optimizing DreadOut for 32 bit system to make it available for release

The Steam client and a Steam account are required to play DreadOut

• How do I start the game?
  Click on it in your Steam Library.
  
  
• I can't start the game
  Things to try if you are having problem to start the game (this section will continue to be updated, so check back if your issue has not been resolved):
  
  -Verify the Integrity of your Local Game Cache. Right click on DreadOut in your Steam Library, choose Properties, Advanced, and then click the Verify Integrity of Local Game Cache button.
  
  -Update your drivers, video card drivers especially.
  
  -Remove and than reinstall the game.
  
  -Reboot your computer. This could be silly, but many software/hardware related problems are solves with a simple reboot.
  
  
• I am stuck at "Disclaimer" screen.
  Most of time users experienced this was because he/she used "decorated" display name. This display name is used by SteamCloudDocuments value so it should not contain characters not suitable for directory name and/or batch command, e.g. * ? : / \ < > % & | among others. We recommend you to use regular display name, your name itself is a good choice.
  
  
• Where do I find the latest update for DreadOut?
  The game is automatically patched by Steam if there is a new update available. You do not have to do anything, and you cannot find the update anywhere else.
  
  
• My screen is the wrong size, what do I do?
  Click Options and adjust your resolution and fullscreen setting.
  Click the Apply Resolution tab to confirm your changes.
  
  
• How to play in windowed mode?
  Press Alt+Enter
  
  
• I already have the PC version, do I need to buy a separate copy for Linux & Mac?
  All Steam-based versions of DreadOut give you access to the PC and Mac version. However, our release are currently for Windows 64-bit only, we will release the 32-bit version, Linux & Mac later.
  
  
• I already bought DreadOut Soundtrack + Manga DLC, where can I find them?
  It should located in your DreadOut install directory. In standard Steam installation, it would located in:
  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dreadout\manga
  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dreadout\OST
  
  
• How do I report a bug?
  You may report your bug in our Steam community hub in discussion section
  
  
• Can I use/stream your game in my YouTube/Twitch/Vimeo video?
  YES! A mention in the credits and link to the game is all we would ask.
  
  
• Are you doing merchandise?

I played the demo earlier on an Intel HD 3000 OS X and W7x64. So will the game run also, since it stated the intel HD 4000 as minimum?
And usually I can run games requiring NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 also without problems.

i can't get past the disclaimer screen. i know that the problem was my file had " : " this in it, so i deleted the file inside steam cloud for dread out but that didn't fix it (I also deleted the steam cloud folder as there was nothing in there and made another folder named “steam cloud”) . So i deleted and reinstalled but that didn't work either. I’ve also validated the files and i get "1 file failed to validate and will be required”. When I revalidated the file again there was no error but I’m still stuck at the disclaimer (however every time I leave the game because it’s still stuck loading I get the same “1 file couldn’t validate and will be required). Rebooting the computer didn’t help fix the problem either. Is it possible that the file name is still stored in the dread out files? Or is it that the new folder name steam cloud, doesn’t have a capital S &/or C?

**EDIT: the problem was my steam nickname had the special symbols (eg " : ; .) and when i change back to my normal nickname it worked.**

the controller works like rubbish on this game, just walk in direction, no interaCTION NOTHING...AND m&k i FIND REALLY AWKWARD, SORRY, WAS GONNA BUY, THAnKS TO THE DEMO AND USING m&k AND TRYING THE SO CALLED CONTROLLER _DOESNT WORK, i AINT BUYING....ITS TO AWKWARD FOR ME...sorry about the caps...

Don't apologize for it if you meant to do it.

What controller / gamepad are you using (Xbox 360 works perfectly fine)
Chances are, if you aren't using an xbox or ps3 controller, then your controller isn't optimized for the game.

They also added in the feature to configure controls like, less than two hours ago. So you can set up the controls to your liking, regaurdless of what controller your using.

using xbox 360 controller and it it walks in one direction and no other buttons work...lemme download demo again and try this again as it loked good but 3rd persion games I like controller....

no...the xbox 360 controller is useless...all u can do is walk forward, and the interactions appear on screen for the keyboard E etc, no buttons work on the controller gah!

Could be, my controller didn't work with the demo either.
