Fails to launch
Every time I try to launch the game it ends up not responding and the only thing I can do is either wait for it respond or close the game and submit a report. I already verified the game cache and tried restarting my PC and then loading the game.

Also tried reinstalling. Did not work, get same result. AppHangB1.

What do you mean, "from the looks of it"?

Have you ever heard of any of the quotes about assuming things...?

I am using my Sister's copy of the game via family library sharing. Not a pirated version. It should work but does not. It just hangs and never loads.

EDIT: The game loads fine when using my Sister's account to play the game but whenever I try to play using my account, it hangs as soon as the game tries to open. I should be able to play this. My computer is authorized and I have access to her Library. Every other game of her's works so far, just not this one. There's something wrong with DreadOut itself.

This is the first game to give us this sort of problem when playing via Family Library Sharing.

Just an update to let you know that the game still isn't working when trying to play it via Family Library Sharing and it's still the only one to not work as of yet. The main account it belongs to can load it just fine on my computer but when trying to use an authorized account, it launches but then stops responding immediately. My only options are to close the program, wait for it to respond, or check for solutions online. All of which do nothing to help me. There are no solutions online and the other two options are useless in trying to get the game to work properly.

I've done the following already:

- Restarted PC
- Verified Cache
- Reinstalled

On some machines, vcredist needs to be manually installed/repaired with the version contained within the game folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DreadOut\_CommonRedist\vcredist

Also, some Laptops need to be instructed to use the mobile GPU instead of an integrated one.
The Mewtilator Jan 19, 2016 @ 12:04am
I repaired the vcredist installation using the provided executable but still get the same result when trying to run the game. I have said that the game runs fine when played using the Master Account. So it's not my computer [Desktop, not laptop] that this problem is originating from. It's the game itself. The game doesn't want to run through Family Library Sharing for some unknown reason. I have another topic open in the, "Help & Tips" section trying to figure what that reason is.

follow these steps :

-Turn Off your Antivirus
-Close All Program in your taskbar
-Run As Administrator
-Launch in Steam Client

if these steps doesn't working , just report in their facebook fanspage.

Well, none of that worked and it seemed a bit unnecessary. Seeing as how the game works fine when launched using the "Master Account" without doing any of that. It's an issue between the game and family library sharing.

They should be reading the reports here on their game's discussion board. I shouldn't have to use F.Book. I am not a fan of that website in its entirety.

Thanks to those who tried and try to help.

I bought the game and have a NASA pc setup and the game dont even load!! WAIST of life and money well disapointed!

i7 4790k
32gb ram
2x gtx 980ti's
3x ssd drives OS STORAGE GAMES HD
OS windows 10 pro 64bit
3x AOC monitors running via hdmi cables!

Well that sucks. It's a completely different problem from what I'm having though. Your game won't load at all and, as I've said multiple times before, the game loads for me but only with the master account. Which is odd. Considering my account and computer are both authorized to play games from the master account and it's the only game, that we own, with this problem.

It's still not working via Family Library Sharing and nobody has been able to provide an answer as to why.

It could be as it has built in protection. Even though it is legitmate as you are using a sharing option it could be mistaking it as a pirated version. Other than writing to the devs just use it on the main account or speak to Steam tech support and see if they can resolve it.
When you die and you are running towards the light it flashes up ''thankyou for using a legtimate version'' . So it checks for it.

That has nothing to do with why the game doesn't work lol. You probablly just have some setting on your PC it doesn't like. Did you verify the files and restart the PC. Crazy as it sounds , this fixes 90% of issues. Why would you waste 980ti's potential using hdmi though? You are restricting your maximum framerate this way.
use Display port and you can run screens upto 165 hz.

Same thing here still not patched :/

@Rick: according to your post history you couldn´t get it to launch on a Laptop with a combination of integrated Intel + mobile Nvidia GPUs. What you can try to make it work is
open your Nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > program settings, add or choose Dreadout.exe, and select high performance Nvidia processor.

Hi EddieK74, I've reinstalled the game and tried to modify Nvidia parmaters like you told me. It doesn't seem to work I still have the same problem : the screen turns black and a small white window called "dreadout" opens and freeze.
