i personally never had it but i know that this game has its moments were things just dont do what it suppose to do.
Alright thanks for the heads up.
What has changed since then that makes this area behave like that again? Newer hardware? Drivers? The transition to Win10 ?
I feel your pain; the autosave only makes it worse because it discourages from trying that part again; almost at the end of an act and right after the most difficult bossfight (scissorman).
There is a chance to not have the bug happen to you if you win the chase. To win the chase you have to know the solution (youtube). I can´t promise you won´t have the bug again, but if I remember correctly, it only triggers when the hallway starts to loop, which can be avoided by taking the first possible exit before the giant ghost catches you.
What I did back then when I decided to make a new attempt was to locate the savefile and left the window open in the background. Whenever the game makes an autosave, a save symbol appears in the top right corner of the screen. The nearest autosave before the hallway chase is in front of the wall of insects, so after watching the save notification symbol appear I alt-tabbed out of the game and copypasted the savefile to somewhere else. If anything would go wrong, I´d have a chance to replace the bugged save with the backup from before the chase.
The default save location on my system looks like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DreadOut\cloud\someNumber\somelongerNumber\save.1
It may look different depending on your OS version and Steam settings.
I hope this was helpful somehow, good luck to both of you.
