Game Black Screen when booting.
Downloaded fine and when I select it through library it goes to a black screen with small tab at top saying Dreadout but does nothing for a couple of minutes then crashes. Any advice?

Hi,
I solved this problem for me! I have Windows 10 and use the 64 bit version.
I played the game before and have also save games then this problem appeared.

Here the solution:
Go to the folder were DreadOut is installed:
e.g. C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DreadOut\

If you go to the cloud folder, there should be one folder with a long number. Open it.

In my case there were 3 files and 3 folders:
Files: gallery.lst ; user.dat ; user.png
Folder: gallery ; and two folders with even longer numbers

These two number folders seem to be the problem. If you have here only on number folder this solution will most likely not work for you.

Before you continue save all of the folders and files in a separate folder. You will need the later again.

Then delete one of the number folders and open user.dat with you normal editor.
At the end of the file there should be two lines for example:
profile "20160421181375";
profile "20160421188656";

Delete the line with the same number like the folder you deleted before.
Save the file and start the game normally with steam. I noticed that steam now downloads you deleted folder again.
For me now the black screen with the white squarer appears but only for a second than it continues normally. Also the save game worked fine.

If this is not working for you, recover the one number file you deleted and delete the other one. Also change the line in the user.dat file to the other number. Then start the game and it should work.

I hope this is use full for someone. Have fun playing.
Another solution that worked for me.

Go to your Drive where steam is installed. Open Steam folder > Steamapps > Common > DreadOut.
Once you're in the main folder of DreadOut delete the folder "cloud".

After you've done that the game should run proper again.
If it doesn't work turn off steam cloud synch in steam and restart steam again.
For further questions get in touch with me.
