Can't move, settings won't save.
I bought this game long ago, and when I changed my computer I wanted to replay it, starting from chapter zero.

However after the initial setup, I've found that the game can't remember my settings (just everything turned up to the maximum quality possible), but ok.
After the scene where the girl wakes up in the dark place, all I can do is look around with the mouse, no keyboard or controller input does anything, I can't even access the menu forcing me to close the game using the process manager.
I'm on linux, my graphics card is a gtx 1080 ti, the cpu is an AMD threadripper 1950x, and I've 32 gb of ram, the games runs the linux native code.

I'm not sure if anyone suffered this problem and I'm aware this is an old game so I would be surprised if I receive help, but it never hurts to try, right?

Regards,

Hello, since you wanted to replay it starting from chapter zero, you can just delete the contents in the cloud folder (named cloud) in your DreadOut installation directory. Hope it helps.

Wow, I truly didn't expect to have an answer and so fast, thank you very much!
Sadly that didn't work, it does now starts at the right resolution (1920x1080), the games starts normally (although i can't choose a language, but I need to wait to time out I guess? because no matter what I click it doesn't seems to detect my clicks) but after waiting a little, the games starts in English and that's perfect.
I can see the character, I see the initial animation, I hear the music and the environment noises and I can Pan around the character with my mouse. But I don't see any interface element (if there's any, I've never been able to play chapter 0) and i can't move, I've tried to press basically all the keys and the only that works is F12 but I think that's steam. I tried to actuate/press all the available controls on the XBox controller connected to my computer and it doesn't do anything at all either.

So I'm kinda lost, it's very late now but I'll try to run the game with proton tomorrow instead of Linux native, perhaps I'll be able to play the game that way, I'll report tomorrow.

Thanks again for the advice, very much appreciated!

Sadly it didn't work, I used the latest proton compatibility layer and could run the windows version without any issue. Just in case I re-applied key bindings for the keyboard and deleted the "cloud" folder. But the game displayed the same issue, it starts perfectly (curiously the windows version graphics are ligther (as in more light) than the Linux version) I can pan around the character and I can't move or make it react to any other key-press.

I'll try to re-install the game completely now and report later.

Ok, so I reinstalled it... three times. For the sakes of investigation I played with the proton layer in 64 and 32 bits and Linux native again uninstalling everything and trying again.
Nothing worked, I successfully started a new game on each of the chapters I have (0, 1 and 2), and it starts, i can orbit with the mouse and it doesn't respond to any key/controller input.

I discovered the Steam layer works (ctrl Tab), and i tried also to change the keymap while the game was running using the steam layer, without success.

However I'm not sure if this is a game's issue now. In spite I uninstalled and re-installed it I still had my profile with my settings on the fresh installed game, so it may be those files that didn't go away the source of my issues? I'm not sure. I have no clue where are those files either.

I'm lost, I've tried everything I could think of. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
