I guess it is slightly annoying to see from the screenshots but its not an rpgmaker game. Not sure what engine it actually uses, think its a homemade one.

At least.. compared to rpgmaker games this ofcourse has alot better graphics, easy controlshemes (best with controller ofcourse still) and they have s much more features and mechanics they can put in without having to destroy every coding restriction rpgmaker has.

Not that there arent any good rpgmaker games, but the quality of a normal gaming engine like this game can never really be reached with rpgmaker.

The game itself is sweet to, played a good amount before it came to Steam and the combat is nice, storyline is fun ... all it needs is just a little bit more content, but thats why its early acces ofcourse.

There is a demo you can play btw on steam (i think.. the demo page kinda redirects me to this one but that might be because i own the game already)

this game is an absolute blast.i highly recommend it!well worth the price, even for a beta.this game is definately a nostalgia trip, and easily brings me up fond memories for me.needless to say,if you like A Link To The Past, and other games like it,you'll enjoy this one!

I don't know why you'd think that. RPG maker has a VERY distinct graphic style: especially with its dialogue sections, lack of gui, and a very obvious and jarring tile system for level design.

Even the first screenshot of SoG, you can see the bushes are not aligned to a grid, the layout is very natural, the gui is well-made, and the 6th screenshot shows the dialogue windows are hand-crafted.

How can you think those two games don't have blindingly obvious tile-based designs?

Of course, RPG maker supports replacing all the sprites and gui with your own, within reason (which most people do not do, and it really shows) but you are still constrained to using a fairly basic, and easily recognized gui which I have not yet seen anyone customize to the absolutely stunning level that you see in SoG. (I don't think it's even possible to do so)
