it's a house decoration, you can sell it. If you change idea, you can always buy it back at the shady merchant in the center of the town.

The diamond is merely vendor fodder, it cannot be used for any purpose other than selling it for dosh, so it can be sold if you're only concerned with matters of functionality. I personally keep mine on me as a trophy because it's a one of a kind item and 25k eventually becomes a drop in the bucket. But that's just sentimental nonsense.
