Question regarding game difficulties and steam achievements
The question's im about to ask are in regards to story mode only for the most part (tried google and searching older threads and checking the game its self but couldint find an answer to the questions im about to ask).

Is their a hardcore mode in the traditional sense for storymode? As in, you die once and thats it, your dead, game over, end of story. The bad guy wins. Your chacter is deleted off the bat after the game over screen, leaving you feel cold, alone, and dead inside. I tried looking for such an option and found none either in game or in regard's to threads i checked out.

Also, i see in steam achievements there is an achiev for playing the game from start to finish on "hard" mode. Does this mean i must enable hard mode in the options AFTER creating my character and BEFORE leaving the house AFTER the cut scene with my character's dad? Because i did not see nor find an option to enter the game with the game difficulty set to "hard" off the bat, as such, am somewhat worried about an improper start as that is what i am aiming for.

For my last question, does the game have some sort of shared stash that can be used to transfer items to other characters? Like in arpgs such as grim dawn, titan quest, poe and so on.

That conclude's my questions. Thank you for taking the time to read and have a good day/enjoyable gaming experience in this great looking game.

1: No hardcore.
2: No. Difficulty can be changed at any time. There are no difficulty-related achievements.
3: No, not that I've seen.

Ah alrighty, dont suppose you know the exact cut off point where the difficulty setting needs to be increased to hard(and remain on hard) in order to get the "beat hard mode from start to finish" achievement? If i had to guess, its before finishing the first story mode quest or any quest in general.

Also, thank you for the quick reply. much appreciated.

My mistake, I missed that achievement. You are prompted to select difficulty at character creation, so I would presume you would need to set it to hard there and never change it.

Are you playing Story or Arcade? Arcade Mode does not prompt difficulty; Story Mode prompts difficulty after entering your name.

Ah, ya, for me, yesterday night when i created my first 2 characters the game did not prompt me to select difficulty in regards to story mode. It just put my dude's straight into the game. So i figured the game was on normal by default and had to be done while in the game with your character. Hence my question regarding the hard mode achiev. Tried creating a new character just now, and it did pop up this time around for some reason.

just to ask is there any chance you could have pressed Z by mistake? cause i definetly don't remember the prompt yesterday as well i just assumed i did a mistake cause the others said it prompt.

There is. Just one. "Play hard mode from start to finish"

Of course, this is probably one of the easier achievements to obtain. S ranking the arcade mode on the other hand made me gave up entirely.

@junior Nope, used a controller to create the characters/during character creation. Made 1 character first, used the randomize feature for it, then the name prompt came up, and it tossed me into the game off the bat with no difficulty prompt and i did not see/notice a difficulty setting in the start up menu.

Thought this was werid and made a second character and the same thing happened, straight into story mode, no difficulty prompt. It wasint until the following day, that i quickly made a custom character to see if that made a difference, that the difficulty prompt appeared. So it seems to be tied to (for me at least) first time bootup/installation of the game and first time character creation using the random function and a controller.

Add onto this that when i also made my first 2 characters, the game was not registering all of the keys on my keyboard (could not get steam overlay and screenshots to work). But i solved this issue by simply unplugging and then repluging my controller back in while the game was running.

As for the controller i use for the game, i use a wired Logitech f310 controller to be exact. Any game label's it as xbox, but it is a knock off of a playstation controller except it has a button that, in the event a game would normally force me to use the left joystick to move, i can press the button and it will switch it to d pad. All the button's on it seem to work so far for the game unlike some other controller's some people seem to be having issue's with which is nice.

But in anycase, all is good now.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but unless console commands have been removed with the full launch of the game, you can activate beast mode while on hard mode in the console commands if you want an even harder experience. It's not Perma-death, but it is another layer of difficulty.

/beastmode on
