It will release when it's finished. They are a tiny team of three devs who are woking on a very polished game. If you want to follow their development they post blogs weekly on what they are working on.

I wouldn't be supprised if it took halfway into next year or so at this rate. I just don't want to play again until it's done so I don't have to deal with changes. Start a new game fresh once I can play it from start to finish.

Far as I know the CrossCode and Secrets of Grindea devs do promotions for one another all the time (the CrossCode main character even has a cameo in Grindea), so I assume everyone's cool with me posting this link.

Then the developers are actually making good time. Generally a game has been under development for several years prior to it being announced. Even after being announced it can take a year to actually finish.

Sad that the OP isn't willing to play the EA version of the game. But with the scam games out there I can understand not wanting to invest in a project that might die before being released. Especially if it has happened to me before.

Half way next year would be nice but honestly, 9'sih years of dev time is no where close to ideal. Most games I've seen took 3-4 years and that also includes games with just a handful of developers and complete solo projects.
A 2D sprite based game (not even HD) isn't exceptionally complex either. The opposite if anything.


Fortunately, SoG has been 'playable' enough to warrant it's price for quite some time so there is no reason to wait for what might as well be more than a year until full release. Not if fear of it getting abandoned is holding you back anyway. Buy away.

the main story game is about 70% released (if you follow the story by getting X artifacts and map unlocked). Arcade mode can keep someone really busy with the roguelike elements and hard difficulty (never tried yet on multiplayer). Devs release frequent updates on their blog and they're planning a new patch with more story content this week (for the fronline version). Just remember that Black Ferrets are only 3 people, dunno if they have other jobs while developping SOG in the same time. For 16 $ it's a great investment, better than giving 60$ for some AAA games that you'll finish one time and probably never return again, but that's my opinion.
