Far as I know the CrossCode and Secrets of Grindea devs do promotions for one another all the time (the CrossCode main character even has a cameo in Grindea), so I assume everyone's cool with me posting this link.
Sad that the OP isn't willing to play the EA version of the game. But with the scam games out there I can understand not wanting to invest in a project that might die before being released. Especially if it has happened to me before.
A 2D sprite based game (not even HD) isn't exceptionally complex either. The opposite if anything.
Fortunately, SoG has been 'playable' enough to warrant it's price for quite some time so there is no reason to wait for what might as well be more than a year until full release. Not if fear of it getting abandoned is holding you back anyway. Buy away.
