But for 2D jRPG style of games and platformers they're a must have.
So i should play with my ps3/4 Controller? Because i have no idea how that works i never used that before :/
Heck, you can even rebind commands to the mouse if you want.
Go to options > Game > Key Config
Then select the "Up, Right, Left, Right" controls and bind them to "W, D, A, S" respectively.
You'll probably have to rebind your hot keys because of that for using skills, but I assume that won't be much of a problem. I'd maybe recommend using the Numpad on your keyboard if you have one.
No idea if they're Windows compatible, and then they'd also need to be supported by the game.
Safest bet are usually the Xbox 360 / Xbox One gamepads which are usually the one being natively supported by games who support gamepads. Some other gamepads could often work as long as they are Windows compatible but they often tend to require custom configurations / bindings and do not work out of the box.
Okay thanks i was too blind to find those options haha my bad :)
You just need:
- to download the driver (I use SCP Driver its on google)
- have the USB charger cable
As others have said, there is plenty of gamepad support, however, i will admit, I did run into some difficulty using older controllers like a rumblepad, and, as others have expressed, you will run into no problems with more common controllers. I'm a long time gamepad user among some common titles so you can take my word for it.
that being said, I grew up playing LoL and CSGO, so I don't know if I'm more used to using not only WASD controls but more tailor-made controls like LoL's QWER-DF controls, but I would have to argue the learning curve for the controls IN NO WAY proves complex IMHO. The main reason for this being you should and will put the majority of your skill points into a single skill, and you won't be stritching your fingers too far, for the most part, until you reach around level 25, which takes awhile.
Outside of skillshots and generally active skills, you'll spend the rest of your skillpoints in passive abilities, so if beginners are looking for tips then bind your main skills to C and V, your bow and potions should be on the ASDF row, and passives should be distributed between the aforementied row and the avoidable QWER row. As mentioned before, these issues don't become relevant until you have more skilllpoints than you know what to do with so I'll continue to my default response of "I've never had an issue," but like I said maybe I'm an outlier...or maybe learning to type before middle school really paid off haha.
All in all, I hope my tips help because it is an awesome game, and I know the myriad of abilities can be daunting to the newcomer, but invest your time in properly setting up your controls and in the end I find most people would actually prefer to use a keyboard for this game.
Look im not really used to Controls like that, i normally play League of Legends so my main usings are the mouse.
When i first started the game i was so confused because i was too blind to find the rebinding in the options because you can only rebin the stuff when you are in the main menu and not while you already loaded your savegame.
I would really like you to delete the whole thread but steam wont let me^^
I changed my controls now and it feels way better but i still need some practice.
I didnt want to talk bad about the game because i really like it, i was just really frustrated because i kept missing enemies while standing right in front of them :/
Thanks for your tips!
How's moving with arrow keys so much worse than WASD? Isn't it basically the same thing?
Personally in games that have a lot of skills to use like this one, I like to have the QWER-ASDF-ZXCV keys free for skills and have the movement on arrow keys. Shooters and the like that need less of the keyboard for skills/items and such are fine with WASD movement.
Just try to write with your other hand, it is simply not comfortable for those who aren't used to it.
Would be kind of nice to have mouse support like in Crosscode for directional aiming / targeting etc. because I find the blocking in Grindea kind of annoying and clunky too.
