How to compensate for elevation
Hi all - completely new user. Am looking for some tips / advice on how to cope with elevation changes in game. In previous golf sims, the general rule of thumb was to add 1 yard of distance for every 2 yards of elevation change e.g. if elevation was 10 yards uphill, I would add 5 yards to my club. Does it work that way too in TGC? Am not looking for an exact calculator, just some guideline on how to compensate. I understand of course that wind, lie etc, all make a difference.

Yes, very similar as past games. I'm not sure of the exact numbers. I just take a guess at it. Makes it more realistic over using a calculator. 5 feet up hill, I'll add a yard or 2 to the distance. Same with down hill shots. Remove a few yards.

It's been a bit random for me, but may be related to other variables like wind or green speed. On some holes if I add (or subtract) 1 yard for every 2 yards of elevation change it works perfectly. On others I overshoot or undershoot if I apply the same formula. I guess it does add to the realism!

Take whatever the elevation is , divide by 1.8 then add or take it away from the distance your hitting. Simples ;)

Thanks for that. Will give it a try. I wish the math were a bit easier!

1 yard = 3ft. if a shot says 158 up 28ft then its a 167 yard shot. obviosly you'd take in account of green firmness and speed and add or subtract just under a yard for every mph of wind. use thiese as a rule of thumb and you won't be too far wrong. its the same on every golf game ive ever played and my scores on most courses reflect these measurements are good.

Thanks skymarshall_uk . That makes sense. Just realized that I've been treating feet as if it were yards when it comes to elevation. Doh :(
