Comparing this game to Tiger Woods 08

Long time player of the Tiger Woods 08 game for PC which IMO still is an awesome golf sim. My buddy and I have been playing the game together on-line for many years in Expert mode. My question is has anyone else here played that game and if so how does this game compare in terms of general playability, graphics, etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I played TW08 too, loved it. TGC: Good game, very good graphic, a lot (!!!) of courses and trueswing. you can play expert when you set it in settings. BUT: I have too play with controller (xbox360 or so) because with mouse you cannot control swing so good. So friend telles me to play with controller and now it`s ok. I think it`s a good game, when like trueswing. 2- or 3 3 Click is NOT available!!!Greetings from Germany, framako

Can TGC be played with a trackball?

I played both Tiger Woods PGA 2003 and Tiger Woods PGA 2006 online with my friend years ago. They were good games and we had lots of fun with both. Each of these games used a mouse movement called Trueswing which involved pulling the mouse back and then pushing it forward. This simulated the backswing and the forward swing. Deviations during the forward swing to the left or right of vertical caused hooks and slices, fades and draws, as well as heel and toe shots.
The Golf Club utilizes a very similar system to Trueswing and it works well for both me and my friend. The graphics in this game are wonderful. There are numerous official and player-made courses. These are some very strong positives about the game.
On the negative side, The Golf Club lacks a number of expected and commonplace abilities for an online game. It is not as developed for ease of online play as TW PGA 2003 was. It lacks a game lobby and discussion area; instead it awkwardly depends on Steam friends being notified that you are in game and will connect you automatically to their game. It lacks the ability to play any mode of play other than stroke play - no match play, no skins, no alternate ball. It lacks the ability to modify the settings of the course being played - you can't change wind, or tee box, or simply choose to play the front nine or the back nine. You have no ability to change clubs - you're stuck with the default set the game gives you. You have very limited ability to change the appearance of your golfing avatar.
In summation, The Golf Club has great course selection, great golf mechanics, and it looks wonderful; but it is clumsy and quite primitive in its online implementation.

Thanks for the input. It looks like the game still needs some refinements and polishing. TW08 is a great golf sim and will be hard to beat for gameplay and ball physics.

I agree complete with you both!!! missing some games, onlinegames not so easy to find friends, because sometimes friends are in and you cannot find them in game. But TW08 is not available (mean, i cannot play it on my new PC) ...und TGC is a good game to play.

May be, .....in the future......., we can get skills, alternate, changing wind.......

Hopefully on of the devs will read this :-)

and at least..NO, trackball cannot be used. you have to play with controller (mouse-performance is....hmmmm..not fine, lol)

I can recommend the game, i dont know why those ppl find mouseswing diffiscult, i find it as
easy as it can be. the variety of the courses is awesome. multiplayer will soon be improved too.
it does lack some depth of play, only stroke available now.
and ofcourse you can play with a trackball, if you get software that configures the ball as mouse, freely available

My friend and I play multiplayer together - we live about 800 km apart. We also have different computer systems - mine's AMD based, his is Intel and Nvidea based. We use different mice - I use Logitech wireless 602; he used some wired mouse of indeterminate origin. We both find the mouse swing wonderful. We do not use controllers - I tried with a wireless Xbox 360 controller. I hated it.
The mouse swing is not too sensitive, but it is senstive enough that one has to be careful. The ability to judge your swing's strength by how hard you pull back is a good simulation of partial swings in real golf. I do find though that with the bigger clubs, the partial swing is harder to do - you seem to pull back too fast to manage a consistent partial swing.

Easy to compare, because Tiger Woods is working welll and the Golf Club doesn't work and will never work for PC.
