because that game was really good.
in the "why dont they do games like this anymore" style.
enough talking. ill push the buy button now.
Yeah, I also forgot about magic carpet until I found this game. Magic carpet was such a gem back in that time, it was so epic.
There is working MC2 on GoG site and hi-res mode works flawlesly :)
I bought this game at Groupees Spotlight for only that reason.
the only downside is that back then we thought that by now we would have the games that those old ones promised to us, with even larger worlds that really exist in a way (i.e. that arent just a scripted facade). we didnt even mind the exact game mechanics in a way, as what these games had in common was a degree of freedom that game designers have given up on a while ago, as generated worlds and their interactions with players proved pretty complicated.
part of the secret of these games are a coherent, good design, and tools given to the player which arent all about archieving the goal (why can you change the landscape in MC?). that gives a feeling of reality, where you can do lots of stuff too, without everything being focussed on a single goal.
so now we keep imitating exactly these old games because they worked out at least. but we have stepped down from wanting it all.
ah well i wont complain, ill buy every damn remake they throw at me :)
Thanks for the chance to see this little piece grow. Keep up the good work (and add Invert Y-Axis).
This Magic Carpet Inspiration has so much potential and finally the day has come where someone did it. :) So I close with just one Word: Thanks!
than i found this *bigsmile*
