interactions doesn't work

some interactions i did doesn't do anything, like the tire wrench in the school map or cutting the wires in the basement and fixing the elevator to the top level of the asylum. i keep pressing E/F multiple times at different angles-- while the animation is there it didn't do anything for me so i cant even solo this game (except the school with the ladder method but that gets boring fast). i like playing alone sometimes but it's a bummer i can't even do other levels because of this.

updated my drivers, uninstalled the game then installed it back thrice- its still the same.

additional note: things like cutting planks/opening up the elevator with the electric screwdriver/wrenching the doors open/reviving a teammate in coop/repairing the broken key card still works, just not what i mentioned above for whatever reason
