Zoom Player Steam Edition

Zoom Player Steam Edition

Will this play ALL Blu-Rays?
I notice that on the features list it says "Decrypted Blu-Ray Movie playback with Subtitle support". Does this mean that I can play ANY Blu-Ray that I own (with menu support) regardless of whatever DRM they use? THAT is something you can't get from VLC and I would consider buying it if that is the case. Also don't discount controller support. Sometimes I just want to watch a movie from somewhere more comfortable than my desk chair.

Not to stray from the point though, will this program play all of my Blu-Rays the same as a Blu-Ray player would?

As I understand, this means it supports the blu-ray format, but will not decrypt it for you[www.inmatrix.com].

So i'm still going to have to use my PS3 to watch movies I paid for?

You could always get a free trial of MakeMKV and rip them to file... but yup, without installing that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3rd party stuff, off to the ps3 =D :closetgamer:

Yes, only unencrypted movies can be played, officially supporting BluRay decryption is only possible by the big players as they put the licensing cost beyond any small company's purse.

Menu support may be added in the future, there's a project working on it, but BluRay menus are all java based, supporting them is a serious pain, but never say never.

I wish that they would lower the price on that already. It's cheaper to buy three Blu-Ray players than any of the software that actually supports Blu-Rays

Thanks for the clarification.
also note that to play ANY blu-ray disc on PC you still need a Blu-ray device in your PC regardless of the software used to play the disc. so you need a blu-ray drive in addition to any DVD drive you may already have. unless you have a drive that plays both blu-ray and DVD formats

blu-ray drives are pretty cheap...around $50 these days...

if you want to pay off-the-shelf blu-ray movies, try AnyDVD HD to decrypt it for you...

I can play any blu-ray movies on MPC-HC with AnyDVD HD running in the background...

nice concept but $30 seems a bit much for media player when there are free alternatives that does the job...minus pretty skins and media organizer...

PIRATEorNINJA:
That's false, you don't need a real DVD drive, if you can decrypt the content of a disc, you can play it from a hard drive or NAS.

Michael of North:
They want $10,000 just for the specs.

i was saying if you wanted to watch a blu-ray movie from the actual Blu-ray disc then you need a blu-ray drive to read said blu-ray disc. i understand that if you have the files already on a HDD or any type of drive that they can be read and played. im pointing this out so someone with a cdrom doesnt think they can stick a DVD or blu-ray in it and then use a software to view the video on it cause they cant.

My problem was buying a Blu-Ray drive and not knowing that the decoder wasn't included with Windows. I've had the hardware for over a year but I still lack the software. VLC does a really poor job once you mod it to work at all and other software is really expensive.

Personally, I do have a Blu-Ray drive in my PC. Problem is, the DRM on the commercial Blu-Ray software (tried PowerDVD and WinDVD, haven't tried TMNT) prevent the playing software from actually working on my PC - neither of those programs like my make/model of Blu-Ray drive. So I have Blu-Ray disks, and a Blu-Ray drive...but no way to actually play them. Oh well.

Ive been using Aiseesoft Blu-ray Player software for a year or so, but i have a small library of blu-ray movies right now so not much

And then they wonder why piracy is so rampant.

I actually buy movies (rare these days) just to support the makers of them. However I haven't been able to legally play them on my pc, even though I have the blu-ray disc and the blu-ray player in my pc.
It's almost like they want people to pirate the movies.

I was really considering buying this for the blu-ray playback, it would be worth the money if it could. I really dislike the monopoly that is created here and refuse to support such a monopoly. Too bad the license is that crazy high..

What would the most convenient (as less hassle as possible) to make every blu-ray play on zoom player? A ripper of some kind?
